Five injured as crash closes A30 for 12 hours

The main route through Cornwall was closed in both directions after a multi-vehicle crash left five people injured.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the crash happened on the A30 at Connor Downs, near Hayle, on Friday and involved five cars. Five people were hurt, with four confirmed to have serious injuries.

Emergency services at the scene included police, fire crews, ambulance teams and the air ambulance.

National Highways said the A30 between Hayle and Camborne reopened at about 23:25 BST, about 12 hours after the initial road closure.

Police thanked members of the public for their patience while work took place at the scene.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
