Police issue warning as keyless car thefts rise
Getty ImagesCar thieves have been turning to technology to help them steal high-powered and super cars in Dumfries and Galloway, police have warned.
They said the number of keyless thefts was on the rise in the region with criminals often targeting Ford vehicles, especially Mk6 (2008-2017) Ford Fiestas.
Officers are urging drivers to take a number of security steps to protect themselves such as using a signal blocking pouch to stop the signal from their car key.
Other advice is to keep car keys and fobs away from doors and windows, use a garage if you have one and use vehicle trackers and a steering lock or pedal box.
