Counter terrorism police arrest two people in raid
PA MediaTwo people have been arrested on suspicion of the preparation of terrorist acts by counter terrorism police.
Police officers, an army bomb disposal unit and the fire service attended an address in Morpeth Street, Hull, on Thursday.
Counter Terrorism Policing North East confirmed a man and a woman, both aged 23, were being questioned.
The pair were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and the man was also arrested for possession of a weapon.
Officers said the man in custody is a white British national and the woman is a white Polish national. This information has been released by the police consistent with their national guidelines.
A Warrant of Further Detention was granted on Friday for seven days, giving officers until Thursday to hold the suspects in custody, the force added.
Officers are still searching the address.
A police spokesperson said: "We understand that local people may have concerns as a result of this activity.
"We would like to reassure them that this arrest is pre-planned, and intelligence-led and there is not believed to be any immediate risk to the local community."
