Police launch appeal to trace two men after reported rape

Detectives have launched an appeal to trace two suspects in connection with the reported rape of a woman in Oban.

The men, described by officers as being about 40 and of Middle Eastern appearance, are wanted over an attack the Dunollie Woods area.

Police Scotland said the incident happened at about 17:30 on 15 May but it wasn't reported until 18 June.

The first man is described as being about 6ft, clean shaven, with a medium build and wearing a red baseball cap and black leather jacket.

The second is described as about 5ft 2in, with a larger build, clean shaven and wearing a black tracksuit.

Officers said they were aware of "significant online commentary" in relation to the incident.

Det Insp Karen MacLennan said anyone with information or who may have captured the men on CCTV or dash cam footage should contact officers as soon as possible.
