Man filmed women undressing through windows

A man who secretly filmed women through the windows of their homes at night has admitted a string of voyeurism charges.

Anthony Durkan, 36, of Islington, north London, was arrested after being caught in the act by a plainclothes police officer earlier this year.

In March, he admitted seven voyeurism charges and earlier at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court he pleaded guilty to an additional 19 charges of voyeurism. He was released on conditional bail and will be sentenced at crown court.

Metropolitan Police detectives are now appealing for more potential victims to come forward after officers found a hidden gallery of photos and videos of women on his phone.

The offences Durkan admitted took place last year, apart from one in January 2020.

Prosecutor Edward Kalber said the father-of-two posed "a real risk to women and girls in our communities".

Kalber told the court: "He was filming them in their private residences in various states of undress."

The Metropolitan Police said officers were working to identify additional victims after discovering a hidden gallery on his mobile phone "containing hundreds of images and videos of women".

The force has made an appeal to women in north London who may have "noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning" between January 2020 and March 2026.

The investigation into Durkan began in January after an unknown man repeatedly went to a woman's home in Islington and filmed through her windows during the early hours of the morning, the Met Police said.

The woman was alerted by her neighbour, who had seen a man dressed entirely in black and wearing a balaclava walk towards the property.

The man was seen holding his mobile phone up to windows, seemingly recording inside, before walking away – with the incidents captured on the neighbour's doorbell camera.

In March, officers were called to another address in Islington, after a woman reported that she had also spotted a man recording her through her window.

She confronted the suspect, who fled immediately, with this incident also being captured on a security camera.

Also on 25 March, a plainclothes officer observed a man approach an address and carry out the same pattern of behaviour.

Police said he was arrested moments later outside the property and identified as Durkan.

A search of Durkan's home address led officers to seize five additional mobile devices and a small camera for further examination.

Det Ch Insp Gemma Alger, whose team led the investigation, said: "Durkan's offending represented a serious and sustained course of predatory behaviour, deliberately targeting women who were entirely unaware they were being filmed, without their consent and in the privacy of their own homes.

"This conviction reflects the severity of these crimes and means a dangerous individual has been brought to justice, preventing further harm to women."
