Fire crews and farmers battle trailer blaze

Farmers helped fire crews by providing water and machinery

Firefighters and farmers joined forces in Herefordshire to put out a trailer fire.

Fire crews from Peterchurch, Hereford, Ewyas Harold and Eardisley attended the blaze near Blakemere at about 21:20 BST.

A spokesperson for Peterchurch Fire Station said "several pockets of fire" had spread to hedgerows and nearby fields "as well as a trailer full of bales".

They said attending crews and farmers - who brought water and machinery - worked together to create fire breaks.

The fire station spokesperson added: "Crews checked for any hot spots and dampened down the entire area before leaving the incident at 02:30."
