The M1 was shut northbound due to an earlier lorry fire in Nottinghamshire.

A tanker caught alight on the motorway between junction 26 at Nuthall, Nottinghamshire, and junction 28 at Pinxton, Derbyshire, on Tuesday afternoon, National Highways said.

Emergency services were called to the scene with delays reported on the approach.

All lanes northbound were closed, with two lanes reopening at about 17:45 BST and the motorway fully reopened at about 21:45.
