Roadworks will be carried out to construct of a new footpath from RAF Cosford to Cosford's railway station in Shropshire.

The work will be run from 06:00 BST on Monday until 20:00 on 12 July.

During this time, Worcester Road West will be closed all day, every day, with a signed diversion in place and only pedestrians allowed to use it.

There will also be traffic restrictions on Long Lane with access only allowed for residents to get to their homes and staffs their businesses within the closure.

Emergency vehicles as well as lorries and coaches travelling to Cosford Museum will also be allowed to use the route.

For all other traffic, a signed diversion will be in place.

A Shropshire Council spokesperson said the path was "much needed" at a location where people were currently having to walk along the road with no safe place to avoid traffic.

New street lighting will also be installed along the new footpath.

The council is using £350,000 for the work, which has come from Active Travel England.
