Pedestrian seriously injured in tractor crash
GoogleA man was seriously injured when he was hit by tractor towing a trailer in Melton Mowbray.
Leicestershire Police said officers were called to Leicester Road, close to the junction with Dalby Road, just before 16:00 BST on Thursday following a report of a crash "involving a red tractor which was towing a trailer and a pedestrian".
The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital and is continuing to receive treatment. No arrests have been made, police said.
A force spokesperson said a mandatory referral had been made to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, as the pedestrian had been in contact with police prior to being injured.
The force said it received a report that the tractor had also been involved in a crash with a white Toyota Proace van "which was behind it following the collision".
Det Sgt Charlotte Mee said: "This incident happened close to the town centre at a time when people will have been travelling home from work.
"I'd therefore like to speak to anyone who saw what happened and can assist with our inquiries."
