Guernsey Police urged the public to contact officers if they arrive at their homes

Police have issued a warning after being made aware of a group of men suspected to be illegally offering work on people's houses for cash.

Guernsey Police said it believed the tradesmen were not licensed, insured or allowed to work in the Bailiwick.

In a post on Facebook, the force urged the public to be "very cautious of any cold callers of this nature" and to make vulnerable family members aware.

The force said: "Scammers of this nature generally target the older generations, take money in advance for work, and then do a very small amount to a poor standard before leaving."

Police added the tradesmen would travel from house-to-house and try to pressure people into paying them.

Officers have urged the public to contact police if the tradesmen arrived at their property.
