Drink-driver banned after car caught fire in road
Market Drayton Fire StationA drink-driver has been disqualified for 14 months after his car caught fire, causing explosions in a Shropshire street.
Police and firefighters were called by multiple people to a Range Rover Evoke which was alight in Adderley Road, at the junction with Milton Drive in Market Drayton last month.
Andrew Passey, 57, from Blandford Way in Market Drayton, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level was above the limit at Telford Magistrates court on Thursday.
The car was destroyed in the intense fire, which saw plumes of smoke coming from the vehicle and a foam jet being used due to magnesium components reacting "violently" with water, fire crews said at the time.
