Man arrested after 67 cars damaged in seaside town

A man has been arrested after 67 cars were damaged over the weekend in Folkestone.

Kent Police said it received multiple reports of car windscreens being smashed in various areas across the town between Friday and Sunday, including Black Bull Road, Radnor Park Road and Wear Bay Road.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Sunday evening and the force said it would contact those affected and keep them updated as the investigation progresses.

Det Insp Carlo Capozzi said: "I understand that damage to personal property can be distressing, and we are continuing to pursue all lines of enquiry."

He added: "At this stage, we are not seeking to arrest anyone further in connection with these offences, but we are keen to hear from anyone who may have information which can assist our investigation."

This includes anyone who has not yet made a report of damage to their vehicle or property, residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam footage that may be relevant.

The man - who was arrested on suspicon of criminal damage - remains in custody while enquiries continue.
