Dilapidated 300-year-old pub being knocked down
LDRSA 300-year-old pub is set to demolished.
The Blackamoor in Blackburn was closed as a pub in 2019 and then bought from brewery Thwaites by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
It briefly served as accommodation for contractors building a nearby road, but the authority had planned to demolish it and redevelop the site.
Stopes Brow will be closed from its junction with Aster Chase from 21 July to 7 August while the demolition takes place.
Simon Jones, growth programme director at Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: "The demolition of any building, including a former pub, is always a last resort and is not done lightly.
"Once the demolition is complete, the site will be landscaped and the pedestrian footpath improved, with a view to upgrading the junction in the future, when funding is available."
