Agricultural show returns for bank holiday weekend

Farmers, livestock exhibitors and equestrian competitors will be showing their animals at an annual agricultural show.

The Edenbridge and Oxted Agricultural Show takes place on Sunday and Monday, with visitors from across the South East able to see livestock competitions, equestrian events, country sports and main ring entertainment.

Organisers said that this year's show came after "one of the toughest growing seasons in recent years" for farmers.

A spokeswoman said that the event marked the end of the farming season, when months of work breeding, rearing and preparing animals come together in the show ring.

The show will feature cattle, sheep, pigs and goats, alongside horse and pony classes, horticultural displays, vintage machinery and food and shopping areas.

The Knights of Middle England will headline the main ring with jousting displays, trick riding and horseback performances.

John Downing, joint chairman of the Edenbridge and Oxted Agricultural Show, said that the Knights of Middle England would be a highlight with their "horses, skill and fast-paced displays".

He added: "The heart of Edenbridge and Oxted is still the farming, the animals, the competitors, the volunteers and the local businesses who make this show what it is.

"It's a proper agricultural show, with all the colour, character and tradition people love and a spectacular day out for everyone."
