Man charged over spate of Orkney break-ins

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of break-ins in Orkney.

Police Scotland said the incidents happened at six separate locations in Kirkwall between November 2025 and January 2026.

A jewellery shop, distillery, primary school, garden centre and council offices were targeted as heavy snow hit the island earlier this week.

The 30-year-old man is expected to appear at Kirkwall Sheriff Court at a later date.

Det Sgt Alexander Campbell said: "We would like to thank everyone who assisted with our inquiries into these incidents following our media appeal.

"Crimes of this nature have a serious impact on the victims and cause concern throughout the wider community."

The incidents happened in Claymore Court, Garrison Road, Willow Road, Holm Road, School Place and Mill Street.
