Therapy centre closes after 'upsetting' floods

A therapy centre for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Wolverhampton says it will be closed until further notice after being flooded.

The Wolverhampton Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre said the damage happened on 28 August, after storms caused flash flooding across the region.

The site will remain shut while damage is assessed and discussions with insurers.

"It was incredibly upsetting for all of us to see the centre, which means so much to so many people, affected in this way," said Paula Anderson, its manager.

"We know how important the centre and the therapies we provide are to our members, and we are truly sorry that we have had to take this difficult step.

"Some therapies, such as foot therapy and reflexology, may still be able to go ahead, we will keep you informed as soon as we know more."

The centre is a member of the Multiple Sclerosis National Therapy Centres Charity (MSNTC) and has been operating in the West Midlands for more than 30 years.

Patients self-refer and can receive therapy such as physiotherapy and massage therapy, as well as Tai Chi and Reiki.

Anderson added that attendees would be updated reguarly via email and social media.

"We will endeavour to resume normal activities as soon as we can," she said.

"We cannot thank you enough for your continued support, patience and understanding.

"The centre is here because of our amazing members, volunteers and supporters, and we will do everything we can to get through this together.
