The Metro service between the airport and South Gosforth will be suspended for nine days

A planned Metro closure may cause delays to those jetting off on their holidays from Newcastle Airport.

No trains will run between the airport and South Gosforth from 15 to 23 August, with services suspended in both directions while work is carried out on tracks, stations and cabling.

Information from Travel North East said a "frequent replacement" bus service will be calling at or close to all stations.

While trains will be running elsewhere on the system, the company warned revised timetables may be in place and advised passengers to plan ahead and leave extra time for travelling.
