GP surgery plan for listed building approved
LDRSPlans to convert part of a listed building in Bradford into a GP surgery have been approved.
The Grade II listed site at 20-22 Mill Street dates back to the 1870s and is near a Travelodge hotel and Bradford Forster Square railway station.
The upper floors have been converted into flats but the ground floor and basement are empty, having previously been a cafe.
Bradford Council planning officers said the plans for the private surgery would bring the lower floors back into use and be in the "long-term interest" of maintaining the building.
The conversion plans were submitted to the authority by Mill Street Asset Management Limited.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, planners said the site had been "vacant for several years".
"The council's conservation officer has reviewed the scheme and is supportive, noting that the proposed use will bring the lower floors of the building back into active use," planning officers said.
"The external works are limited in scope and sympathetic to the character and special interest of the heritage asset."
