Sgt Karl Mumby, 47, has been charged with rape and coercive control

A West Midlands Police sergeant has been charged with rape and coercive control.

Sgt Karl Mumby, 47, is accused of two counts of rape of a woman, and one of coercive control relating to the same woman.

West Midlands Police said he was suspended from duties when the allegations were reported to them in November 2023.

Sgt Mumby will appear before Warwick Crown Court on 17 December for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said officers from their public protection unit were continuing to support the woman.
