Police appealed for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch

House-to-house inquiries are taking place after a teenager has died from stab wounds in Northampton.

Police were called to Adnitt Road, in the Abington area, at about 19:00 BST on Tuesday.

Despite the "best efforts of members of the public, police and paramedics, he sadly died at the scene", the force said.

A police cordon was put in place in Adnitt Road, and another one more than two miles west in Dallington Park, and people have been asked to avoid the areas while the investigation continued.

Det Ch Insp Ryan Catling said: "This is a fast-moving investigation with several scenes in place as we work to establish what has happened."

He appealed for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the Adnitt Road and Dallington Park areas to get in touch.

"We know this incident will cause a lot of concern for the local community and I want to offer reassurance that we are doing all we can to establish what has happened and identify those responsible," Catling said.

"Our neighbourhood policing team will be conducting patrols throughout the day, and I would encourage anyone with concerns to approach one of our officers who will be happy to help.

"Any small piece of information or footage is useful and could be the vital detail we need as part of our inquiry."

He also asked for anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact the force.
