Firefighters have worked through the early hours to tackle a fire that engulfed a bus parked in a lay-by.

Police and fire crews from Dorchester and Maiden Newton were called to the blaze in the single decker bus on the C12 Old Sherborne Road close to the Wolfedale Golf Course near Charminster shortly after 00:45 BST.

With no water sources nearby, a water carrier from Yeovil was also sent and the road was closed while the fire was put out.

The bus, left completely burnt-out, is due to be recovered. The cause of the fire has not been established.
