Young man dies after being rescued from lake

A 19-year-old man has died after getting into difficulty in a lake.

The teenager had been in Grasmere in the Lake District and calls were made to emergency services at about 16:35 BST on Saturday, Cumbria Police said.

He was taken to hospital but has since died.

The force thanked those who came to the 19-year-old's aid and helped get him out of the water.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, but police asked witnesses to come forward to help establish what had happened.
