A 14-year-old has been arrested as part of an investigation into drugs being sold to rough sleepers in Nottingham city centre, police said.

On Thursday, Nottinghamshire Police said it acted on intelligence that class A drugs were being sold in the Clumber Street area and a boy was located in the area riding a black e-scooter.

The suspect fled towards the train station but was stopped by officers, the force said.

Officers arrested him on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, and driving a motor vehicle without insurance or a valid driving licence.

An undisclosed amount of cash, the boy's e-scooter and his balaclava were seized by police and will not be returned.

The force said officers will be working with his parents and guardians.

City commander Supt Chris Pearson said: "I also want to reassure the community that we are incredibly serious about finding, arresting, charging, and putting before the courts those responsible for running these drug operations which are destroying our local communities."
