One person taken to hospital after ambulance crash closes road

One person has been taken to hospital after a crash involving an ambulance closed a major road in Edinburgh city centre.

Police Scotland said the incident happened on Lothian Road, at its junction with West Approach Road, at about 17:00.

A short time later, a two-vehicle crash, involving a marked police car, was reported on Shandwick Place at the junction with Princes Street.

There were no reports of any injuries and Lothian Road and Shandwick Place have since reopened.
