A man who drove at more than 100mph (160km/h) in a 30mph (48 km/h) zone and left a teenager with life-changing injuries has been jailed.

Mohammed Khan hit the 17-year-old boy with his Mercedes A45 on Halifax Road in Bradford on 16 September 2024.

After hitting the victim, who lost a leg as a result of the crash, Khan fled the scene, removed his number plates and arranged for the car to be recovered and hidden, according to West Yorkshire Police.

The 25-year-old, of Donisthorpe Street in Bradford, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice and was jailed for 40 months at Bradford Crown Court on Friday.

Insp Claire Gray, from the force, said: "This case shows that dangerous driving can lead to catastrophic results.

"People need to understand that speed limits are there for everyone's safety and to blatantly ignore this is unacceptable."
