St Mary RedcliffeIn-spire-ing: The new vicar of St Mary Redcliffe, the Rev Dr Brutus Green, is to climb to the top of the church's iconic spire for charity.
Standing at 274 feet (84m) to the top of the weathervane, St Mary Redcliffe is the second-tallest structure in Bristol and the sixth-tallest parish church in the country.

Avon Valley RailwayStreet art: Bristol artists, Inkie, Jody and Cheo have been commissioned to spray paint one side of a heritage railway carriage, with designs from the 1980s for an up-and-coming short film.
The carriage can be viewed at Bitton Station "for the foreseeable future".

The instrument features a working thermometer and a snow globe containing a figurine of former US vice president Al Gore.
National Trust - Lucy FennaTop trees: Stourhead in Wiltshire has collaborated with artist Luke Adam Hawker on a Drawn to Trees trail and Tree Zodiac exhibition, which runs until 1 November.
The event encourages visitors to slow down, observe and engage more deeply with the natural environment.

Paul HurfordFeeding time: Local photographer Paul Hurford captured some stunning shots of barn owls feeding their young on the Somerset Levels.
He said he saw two parents feed their five owlets about eight times in the space of 90 minutes.
Wynford JonesVintage: Wynford Jones, 78, will take his KR200 Messerschmitt, or bubble car, from Taunton to Land's End and back for charity.
He's celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Bristol Microcar Club Rally. He's puts pedal to the metal in July.
The so-called bubble cars originated in post-World War Two Britain to provide cheap, fuel-efficient transportation amid raw material shortages and economic austerity.
