Crews called to three wildfires in county

Firefighters were called to three wildfires in Leicestershire as the UK recorded its hottest day of the year so far.

Eight crews were called to the largest fire - a blaze off Battram Road near Ibstock - on Thursday, with about 10 hectares (24.7 acres) of land affected.

Crews also attended blazes near Ratby, off Burroughs Road, and off the A14 near Swinford.

The service advised residents to avoid the areas and keep doors and windows closed.
