Guernsey Police said a school crossing guard was struck by a vehicle on Friday morning

Police are appealing for information after a school crossing guard was involved in a hit and run.

Guernsey Police said the incident happened near Amherst School on the filter junction of Rouge Rue, Mont Arrive and Amherst at about 08:50 GMT.

Officers said the crossing guard for the school was struck by a "white single cab, pick-up truck with aluminium sides on the rear end". He sustained "minor injuries", police said.

The vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the incident.

Police said: "Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with dashcam footage from that time and place.

"It is reported that the filter junction was busy with traffic at the time."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police force.
