Nottinghamshire Police said the A1 was closed following the crash

The A1 in Nottinghamshire is expected to remain shut "for several hours" following a crash involving a lorry and a motorcycle.

Nottinghamshire Police said at about 17:00 BST on Monday that the A1 had been closed in both directions, between Carlton-on-Trent and Tuxford, due to a "serious" collision, with the fire service also in attendance.

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area by the force and use alternative routes.

National Highways said diversions were in place from the Apleyhead Interchange southbound, to the North Muskham Junction northbound.
