  1. Amateur Augenstein sticking aroundpublished at 18:04 GMT 13 November 2020

    Augenstein -6 (13*)

John Augenstein continues to impress on his Masters debut. The 23-year-old amateur has started the front nine with four successive pars to remain at six under.

His latest came at the par-three fourth after an excellent tee shot and two solid putts.

He's got five holes to play.

  2. Double bogey for Thomaspublished at 17:57 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -6, Koepka -5, Fitzpatrick +1 (10*)

A wobble for Justin Thomas. After that foray into the trees, he lashes his third shot beyond the green, chips back past the flag and then runs a bogey putt several feet short.

Double bogey for the world number three.

Brooks Koepka, meanwhile, is in for birdie. He continues to climb. Up to five under.

  3. Postpublished at 17:54 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -1, Johnson -8, Cantlay -5 (8*)

Good uphill putt from McIlroy to set himself up for a par - he makes it and it's 32 on Augusta's back nine. Four under for the round.

Johnson also judges his uphill putt well. Two feet and it's par.

Cantlay makes par too having been in the bunker. A decent save.

  4. Willett continues chargepublished at 17:52 GMT 13 November 2020

    Willett -6 (12*)

Danny Willett is having quite the round. Successive birdies on the second and third holes have shifted him up to six under and right in the mix.

    "Is that good dad?"

    "Errr...yes"

"I got 9/13 in my spelling test today."

I'll be back in a minute.

    Thomas -8, Koepka -4, Fitzpatrick +1 (9*)

Oh dear. Justin Thomas' birdie streak looks to be coming to a halt. He finds himself in the pines off the tee, tries to trace a route out but slaps an iron straight against a trunk 20 yards in the distance. It pinballs back the other way, though that fortuitous ricochet finds the fairway.

  6. Harding on the movepublished at 17:48 GMT 13 November 2020

    Harding -1 (12)

Talk about being on the move. Justin Harding's second round is smattered with birdies.

The South African finished the first round at three over par but is four under so far today with a couple of the par fives still to play.

  7. Postpublished at 17:45 GMT 13 November 2020

    Im -8 (6*)

We just mentioned Sungjae Im has a share of the lead. After falling out of top spot with a bogey at 14, he immediately corrected it with a birdie worthy of a mini fist bump at 15.

A cracking round from the 22-year-old so far.

  8. Postpublished at 17:44 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -1, Johnson -8, Cantlay -5 (8*)

Really unlucky from McIlroy - he fancied his approach but the spin takes it down the slope beyond Johnson's ball. It'll probably be par.

    Cantlay next.

Bunker to the right of the hole. Bit of shank.

  9. Thomas joins the lead!published at 17:39 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -8, Koepka -4, Fitzpatrick +1 (9*)

Justin Thomas has been calmly going about his business and now he's taken a share of the lead. Four birdies in the row for the American, he's sizzling right now.

It's another superb approach at 18 from the world number three, slapping it 179 yards to within eight feet and then rolling in to move to eight under par.

Three-way tie at the top now, with Thomas joining Dustin Johnson and Sungjae Im.

  10. Postpublished at 17:38 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -1, Johnson -8, Cantlay -5 (8*)

Was that a McIlroy laugh after a peach of a drive off the 18th?

    Hmmm.

If he manages another birdie into the turn...

  11. The next breed of live text commentators...published at 17:35 GMT 13 November 2020

My 11-year-old daughter has just walked in to the room (the joys of working from home!). "I'm bored dad."

"Ok. Do you want to watch the golf with me?"

    "Who's that? What's happening?"

"That's Dustin Johnson. He's world number one and the leader."

    "Great."

"Do you want to write something for the live text about what you can see?"

A man has hit the ball near the hole.

I guess we all start somewhere.

  12. Postpublished at 17:35 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -7, Koepka -4, Fitzpatrick +1 (8*)

Wonder how the conversation between Brooks Koepka and his stylist goes.

"What colour top would you like?"

"Don't care, just make it snug around the arms."

We all have that mate who does similar, except they just buy a size too small...

The American leaves his birdie putt at 18 slightly left but should roll in for a par that will see him hit the turn at two under par for the day, four under in total.

  13. McIlroy birdiepublished at 17:34 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -1, Johnson -8, Cantlay -5 (8*)

    Birdie McIlroy!!!!

His best putt of the day - brilliant!

Johnson's stroke whistles past. It's par for the co-leader.

McIlroy is... seven off the lead.

  14. Postpublished at 17:29 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy E, Johnson -8, Cantlay -5 (7*)

So DJ has the best chance of a birdie of the three on the 17th - about 10 feet from his 130-yard approach.

McIlroy is frustrated that the ball didn't do anything as it landed on the surface - he has about 15 feet.

    Cantlay is much further back.

First bump in the road for Sungjae Im today. A bogey at the par-four 14th pegs the South Korean back to seven under par, and he slips out of a share of the lead. DJ is all alone once more...

  17. Postpublished at 17:19 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy E, Johnson -8, Cantlay -5 (7*)

A trickler from McIlroy trickles a fraction of an inch past the 16th hole.

    Agonising!

Johnson's ball does exactly the same thing.

    Remarkable!

    Cantlay makes his birdie.

    Solid!

They are bunching up at the top.

  18. Thomas closes in on leadpublished at 17:18 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -7, Koepka -4, Fitzpatrick +1 (8*)

Two-putt par for Brooks Koepka at 17, his eighth, as this marquee group nears the turn.

The lead has suddenly reared back into Justin Thomas' view and he tees up a nine-foot birdie chance that would take him within one of Sugjae Im and Dustin Johnson.

Down it goes! JT is closing in. Three on the bounce for the world number three.

  19. Molinari's miserypublished at 17:17 GMT 13 November 2020

    Molinari +3 (8)

Plenty of low numbers around Augusta again today but spare a thought for the 2018 Open champ Francesco Molinari.

The Italian finished the first round at level par but has put four bogeys up since carding a birdie on the second.

Looks a long way of the form he showed in 2019 when he shot 67 in the second round and held the lead after 54 holes.

  20. Englishmen going wellpublished at 17:14 GMT 13 November 2020

    Willett -4 (9*), Fleetwood -4 (9)

England's Danny Willett and Tommy Fleetwood are racing up the lederboard.

Willett, the 2016 Masters champion, began the second round with a double bogey on the 10th to slip to one over. Since then though, he's had an eagle on the 13th and birdies on the 14th, 15th and 17th to get to four under.

He's been joined on that score by Fleetwood, who responded to a bogey on the first with three successive birdies and he's just knocked in another on the eighth.
