    McIlroy -2, Johnson -8, Cantlay -7 (14*)

The trio have all coped well with the tricky pin position on the par-three sixth.

Cantlay's ball is just off the green on the right but it's OK. Johnson's ball is also off the green but he manages to get the ball to about four feet of the hole.

  2. Mickelson gains groundpublished at 19:20 GMT 13 November 2020

Phil Mickleson hits a pearler off the tee on six to claim back-to-back birdies before his mini-charge comes to a halt with a par on seven.

If he can pick up another birdie or better in the last couple of holes he'll fancy his chances this weekend.

  3. Augenstein responds after a triplepublished at 19:17 GMT 13 November 2020

    Augenstein -3 (17*)

The amateur John Augenstein was rubbing along nicely at six under par a little earlier.

I've just watched him hole a decent putt on the par-five eighth for birdie but that was to get him back to three under.

What's happened? A triple-bogey seven at the par-four seventh is what. A wild slice off the tee started it. He still looks set to make the cut though.

  4. Postpublished at 19:17 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -2, Johnson -8, Cantlay -7 (14*)

It's par for Cantlay and Johnson, who gets his initial putt to within a whisker of the hole.

McIlroy has to settle for par as well. Holes are running out for the four-time major winner.

Is he looking up or down? One under is the projected cut.

  5. Postpublished at 19:13 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -2, Johnson -8, Cantlay -7 (13*)

Florida-based Patrick Cantlay is in a spot of bother on the left-side bunker at the fifth, but plays himself out of trouble. He still has some work to make par on the par-four hole.

  6. Ancer shares the leadpublished at 19:13 GMT 13 November 2020

Mexican Abraham Ancer might not be the most well-known player on the circuit, but he's top of the Augusta charts right now and this is how he did it...

  8. Postpublished at 19:09 GMT 13 November 2020

    Smith -6 (15)

    Hello... what have we here?

That's brilliant from Cameron Smith who whips his tee shot away and then sees it land a couple of feet from the pin on the par-three 16th.

    Another birdie incoming. Surely.

    Reed -4, Casey -7, Finau -3 (19:19 GMT)

England's overnight leader Paul Casey is set to get his second round under way.

The 43-year-old Cheltenham-born player has yet to win a major. He came close at this year's US PGA.

Could he break his duck at Augusta?

  12. Smith back in the mix?published at 19:05 GMT 13 November 2020

    Smith -6 (15)

Cameron Smith puts himself back in the mix on 15 by tapping in for an eagle.

The Australian looked like he was dropping off the pace after bogeys on seven, nine, 10 and 14, but he's now back in the red and two shots off the lead.

  13. Birdie for Impublished at 19:05 GMT 13 November 2020

    Im -7 (11*)

A bounce-back birdie for Sungjae Im after those successive bogeys... he's within touching distance of Dustin Johnson and Abraham Ancer, nestled nicely at seven under par.

  14. Opportunity missedpublished at 19:03 GMT 13 November 2020

    Fleetwood -6 (16)

Here's Tommy Fleetwood with his birdie putt on 16. Starts it left, stays left. Tommy swings his arm to try and encourage his ball in but that rarely works.

    Two to play.

  15. How does this stay out?published at 19:01 GMT 13 November 2020

Dustin Johnson is left wondering what if after his birdie putt on the third hole stays on the green...

  16. Postpublished at 19:00 GMT 13 November 2020

    Frittelli -7 (13)

A solid save from Dylan Frittelli on 13, who arcs a lovely third stroke on to the left of the green before two-putting.

  18. Postpublished at 18:57 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -2, Johnson -8, Cantlay -7 (13*)

McIlroy looks disappointed after failing to make his birdie putt.

Pars all around for the trio.

  19. Fleetwood knocking on the doorpublished at 18:56 GMT 13 November 2020

    Fleetwood -6 (15)

This leaderboard is about as congested as it's possible to be with 22 players within four shots of the lead.

In the middle of all that is Tommy Fleetwood. The Englishman is five under par for his round after a well-constructed birdie at the par-five 15th.

The only blemish on his card came at the first hole. The hole on the 16th is in a spot that leaves it open for attack...

...and Tommy has played a corker, landing the ball 6 yards over the flag and allowing the slope and gravity to work in his favour. Another birdie chance coming up.

  20. Postpublished at 18:55 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -7, Koepka -4, Fitzpatrick +1 (13*)

Justin Thomas is hanging around, waiting to make his move. He briefly shared the lead but now sits one back after a double bogey at the first. A birdie and two pars have steadied the ship since, but he's leaked his approach at five, Magnolia, a little left.
