    McIlroy +1, Johnson -3, Cantlay -2 (10*)

DJ's downhill putt for a birdie takes the wrong line but it's a cautious approach so he hasn't got much left to make par.

McIlroy gets off to an awful start by missing a shortish putt for par.

    Oh Rory!!

Johnson, on the other hand, makes his par putt.

American Patrick Cantlay played brilliantly on Thursday. His birdie putt at the 10th fails to break left but it should be an easy par.

The 28-year-old finished tied ninth last year.

  9. The story so far...published at 12:23 GMT 13 November 2020

Three groups played a hole on Thursday before the heavens opened and drenched the course. We had to wait three hours-ish before play resumed.

England's Lee Westwood was red hot and hovering around at five under before compatriot Paul Casey took the baton to eventually finish with a remarkable 65 and the clubhouse lead.

Five-time champion Tiger Woods had an unblemished round, but missed a handful of birdie chances. Nevertheless, he looked in great shape as he finished on four under.

The pre-tournament favourite Bryson DeChambeau certainly attacked the course as he promised, however accuracy off the tee at Augusta deserted him. He made a double-bogey seven at the 13th. Yikes!

Elsewhere, world number three Justin Thomas impressed - he's two off the lead - while number one Dustin Johnson and number two Jon Rahm have Casey in their sights.

We enjoyed round one so much we thought we'd extend it into Friday and then give you the second round.

Those yet to finish their first rounds and in sight of the leaders include recent former number one Justin Thomas, promising young talent Matthew Wolff, Aussie Adam Scott, England's rose Justin Rose, Rickie "will I ever win a major?" Fowler, Dustin "will I ever win a second major?" Johnson and Rory "will I ever complete the Grand Slam?" McIlroy.

And... and... Bernhard Langer. Never ever write off Bernhard.

Yes, we know he last won a major in 1993, but it was at Augusta. The 63-year-old is four off the clubhouse lead held by England Paul Casey in seven under.
