  1. Tiger furiouspublished at 20:31 GMT 13 November 2020

    Woods -4 (4)

Tiger Woods, chewing on his gum, stalks his putt. It's going to be a little slow and coming in from the right.

Hit it. Hit it son. Doesn't hit it. Dribbles off left. Par

NO! Wow. What a miss. Tiger from inside three feet tries to ram the ball home and misses. Shot gone

    Westwood -4 (5*)

Now then, Lee Westwood. Another veteran Englishman yet to win a major.

The Worksop great has made par on his first four holes from the 10th, but now has a great chance of a birdie on the par-four 14th...

    Three feet Lee?

    Oh nooo.... he's missed!

  3. Another bogey for Brysonpublished at 20:25 GMT 13 November 2020

    Rahm -5, DeChambeau +1, Oosthuizen -5 (4)

Crikey his head must be spinning. Bryson DeChambeau is throwing shot away like confetti in the Augusta wind. That's four in two holes.

A triple and now a bogey. He's not even making the projected cut at present.

Solid stuff from Louis Oosthuizen and much better results from Jon Rahm.

The Spaniard's impressive start continues after a perfect approach from the tee.

  4. Casey taking it easypublished at 20:23 GMT 13 November 2020

    Casey -7 (3)

It's been a very steady start from Englishman Paul Casey.

Three pars on the first three holes.

The 43-year-old's strike on the par-three fourth avoids the bunker on the left - it'll be tricky to make the birdie but it should be another par at worst.

  5. Postpublished at 20:22 GMT 13 November 2020

    Woods -5 (2)

Tiger Woods is on the third fairway, having hit a conservative tee shot. He's left himself a good number though and flies a wedge 128 yards, two yards past the pin and spins it back a dozen feet short to leave himself an uphill putt.

Has he played round here before?

  6. Im will win a major within the next 9 monthspublished at 20:20 GMT 13 November 2020

    Iain Carter
    Radio 5 live commentator

I am convinced Sungjae Im will win one of the 5 majors in the next 9 months. He's a great ball striker. His swing is one of the best out there!

  7. McIlroy fights back for 66; Johnson birdie for joint leadpublished at 20:19 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -3, Johnson -9, Cantlay -8 (F)

McIlroy's birdie putt just slinks past the hole but it's a 66 and he's six off the lead. Two more of those and, well, you never know.

World number one Dustin Johnson makes his birdie putt - he holds the joint lead again. The American might be a little disappointed he did not push on from when he was on 10 under.

Cantlay finishes with a 66 - only one off the lead.

  8. Postpublished at 20:17 GMT 13 November 2020

    Rahm -4, DeChambeau E, Oosthuizen -5 (3)

Talk about symmetry Bryson DeChambeau has now dropped back to being in a tie for 46th place with Larry Mize.

    See 19:58 post.

  9. Postpublished at 20:14 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -3, Johnson -8, Cantlay -8 (17*)

Both Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay are in line to record 65s - seven under for the day.

The Northern Irishman has eight feet to the hole - this would be a remarkable recovery after the scenes earlier in the day when he really struggled.

Cantlay's approach just runs off the back of the green, while DJ has about 10 feet.

  10. Triple bogey for DeChambeaupublished at 20:12 GMT 13 November 2020

    Rahm -4, DeChambeau E, Oosthuizen -5 (3)

The US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau has carded a triple on the third.

His mood looks about as flat as the cap on his head. Didn't he say par round here was 67?

  11. Woods almost eagles from the sandpublished at 20:11 GMT 13 November 2020

    Woods -5 (2)

A bit earlier today, Dustin Johnson was in the same bunker as Tiger Woods, just short of the second green. He flipped it out to 10 feet, which was deemed an outstanding shot.

Tiger almost holed his. He, and I, thought it was in. Half an inch.

    A birdie though.

  14. McIlroy & Cantlay make birdiespublished at 20:06 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy -3, Johnson -8, Cantlay -8 (17*)

Johnson only makes par on the par-five 17th but McIlroy picks up another birdie - timely.

Meanwhile, Patrick Cantlay joins Johnson on eight under and is one off the lead after also holing his birdie putt.

    One to go.

  15. Thomas finishes with a flourishpublished at 20:05 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -9 (F*)

Four straight birdies for JT to finish and that's enough to give him a share of the lead.

He was absolutely sizzling there and his chip and run on eight, out of the pine needles is well worth a watch on the highlights later.

  16. Woods heading to the sandpublished at 20:02 GMT 13 November 2020

    Woods -4 (1)

Tiger Woods, perhaps frustrated by only making par at the first, mullers his drive down the long second.

Yesterday, the balls were stopping dead on fairways. Today, that takes a an extra hop and a skip. He'll be chasing the pin with his next shot.

From 233 yards...he's leaning left, which means ball going right, and into the bunker.

  17. Postpublished at 20:01 GMT 13 November 2020

    Rahm -4, DeChambeau -3, Oosthuizen -5 (2)

Bryson DeChambeau does not looks a happy camper on the third.

His tee shot has gone west and after an unsuccessful attempt to find it he has asked one of the officials if it can be located using TV pictures.

No jo, so far. Looks like he could be playing off the tee again.

  18. 'I'm really happy to play here'published at 20:01 GMT 13 November 2020

    Ancer -9 (F)

Joint leader Abraham Ancer: "I feel confident with my driver. I feel I missed some of them that went right, but I somehow managed to make par or birdie.

"Last year this was the only major I didn't manage to play. I'm really happy to play here."

  19. Postpublished at 19:58 GMT 13 November 2020

Bryson DeChambeau has got tongues furiously wagging in the golfing world this year for his big-hitting approach and monster drives.

On Thursday, the world number six's average drive was 100 yards longer than that of 62-year-old former champion Larry Mize, who won the Masters six years before DeChambeau was born.

They both shot two-under-par 70s in the first round...

  20. Birdies all aroundpublished at 19:57 GMT 13 November 2020

    Rahm -4, DeChambeau -3, Oosthuizen -5 (2)

    We have lift off.

It seriously helps when you can ping your drive 380 yards.

And that sets Bryson DeChambeau up for his first birdie of the day despite a rather loose second which sees him two putt from distance.

Rahm and Oosthuizen are a bit more conventional.

Without the power to take the shortcut over the trees down the left, neither make the green in two but both get the same result.
