  1. Birdie for Schefflerpublished at 11:18 BST 10 July

    M. Fitzpatrick -7, Scheffler -1 (10*)

Scottie Scheffler rolls in his birdie putt, which puts him on the projected cut line.

Matt Fitzpatrick's effort doesn't break though and he has to settle for par.

For those of you wondering, Scheffler has made the cut at his past 78 events...

  2. Willett well placedpublished at 11:15 BST 10 July

    Willett -5 (14*)

2016 Masters champion Danny Willett is putting together a solid round, moving him into a share of fourth and just three shots off the lead.

Birdies on his fourth, fifth, and eighth, and a bogey on the second, have him sitting at two under for the day.

Six consecutive pars have helped him plod along under the radar as he reaches the 15th.

  3. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 10 July

    M. Fitzpatrick -7, Scheffler E (9*)

Trouble at the first for Matt Fitzpatrick, who goes left with his second and finds the rough.

He does brilliantly to gouge it out onto the green for an outside look at birdie, while playing partner Scottie Scheffler has a similar length putt for his birdie.

Hi, unfortunately the weather for Saturday looks very problematic with a thick haar and drizzle most of the day as the wind comes in from the North Sea. Weather!!!

Ever the sartorial maestro these days, Tommy Fleetwood has opted for what appears to be a wool polo shirt today.

I would never dare to go wardrobe-for-wardrobe with the guy, but that is a bold choice in the heat.

Get on the thumbs below - is the wool cool enough to be worth it in the sun?

  7. Smith gets to eight underpublished at 10:54 BST 10 July

    Smith -8 (11*)

Another change at the top as Jordan Smith makes a wonderful birdie at the second.

From 175 yards out of the rough, he puts his approach to 12ft and rolls it in.

He leads Matt Fitzpatrick by one.

Calum Hill has been playing well this year. Maybe his time for a big finish.

The BBC weather site says we're in for sunny intervals and a moderate breeze at the Renaissance Club today. Highs of 20 degrees, lows of 14.

That also translates to ideal golfing conditions.

Fantastic start from Fitzpatrick. Could be fun if he’s one of the leaders and is paired with a Norwegian over the weekend.

    Tristan

I think it's mad that Fitz looked like he wouldn't get in the Ryder Cup team, then played a great month leading up to it.

Since then, he's been a different animal indeed, week in, week out. I take my hat off to him.

  11. Bogey for Fitzpatrickpublished at 10:41 BST 10 July

    M. Fitzpatrick -7 (8*)

After an electric run of birdies, Matt Fitzpatrick three putts at 17 and walks away with a bogey.

He's back at seven under with Jordan Smith.

  12. Will Rahm make the cut?published at 10:38 BST 10 July

    Rahm +2 (6*)

Jon Rahm's miserable opening round - a three-over 73 - left him facing a battle to be here for the weekend.

The big Spaniard came out firing today, starting with a birdie on 10 and adding another on 12, but dropped a shot at 14.

He is now perched two shots outside the projected cut line.

  13. Hill makes his movepublished at 10:33 BST 10 July

    Hill -6 (9*)

Speaking of Calum Hill, he's moved within two shots of leader Matt Fitzpatrick.

Back-to-back birdies at the eighth and ninth mean he makes the turn in decent shape.

His putting has been excellent so far this weekend - he's ranked 14th in the field, and has nine birdies, the second most in the field.

He has played half a round of golf more than most folk, mind you.

Calum Hill and Bob MacIntyre were top of the Scots in the field yesterday, both carding a three-under 67.

Hill, one of the early starters this morning, has moved to four under for the tournament, one under for the day through six.

Scott Jamieson and Grant Forrest are also under par by a shot and get their rounds started after midday.

Par for this course is 70, and that's what Ewen Ferguson shot yesterday, while Connor Syme is five over for the tournament, level par for the day through seven.

The spectator village here at the Genesis Scottish Open is proving very popular with all ages on day two of the tournament.

Many fans are having an attempt at the long putt challenge while youngsters are enjoying lessons with the Stephen Gallacher Foundation.

The ice-cream stall is also doing good business on another warm day here in East Lothian.

  18. Poor start from Schefflerpublished at 10:16 BST 10 July

    Scheffler -1 (6*)

While playing partner Matt Fitzpatrick is flying, it's a different story for world number one Scottie Scheffler in the early embers of round two.

Scheffler bogeyed two of his opening three holes, dropping him back to level par for the tournament.

However, he has followed Fitzpatrick in making birdie at 15.

  19. Fitzpatrick out on his ownpublished at 10:13 BST 10 July

    M. Fitzpatrick -8 (6*)

    Wooft.

Five birdies in a row for Matt Fitzpatrick, who puts his tee shot at the par-three 15th to a foot and taps in the putt.

He's the solo leader at eight under.
