    T. Kim -6 (11)

Tom Kim was one of the overnight leaders on five under, but he's gone under the radar a wee bit today.

He's one under for his round with one bogey and an eagle on the card.

    McIlroy -7, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -5 (6)

Chris Gotterup and Rory McIlroy are in the scary stuff down the left-hand side.

Knee-high grass, the path less travelled if you will.

Bob MacIntyre is up last. Can he find the fairway?

He cannot. He is in an equally tricky situation on the other side of the hole.

Three birdie putts come and go for this popular group.

To the par-five seventh they go.

    McIlroy -7, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -5 (5)

There's a big old green to aim for and Bob MacIntyre knows it.

He drops a towering approach just 20 feet from the pin.

Chris Gotterup and Rory McIlroy both wind up on the fringe, front and left edge, respectively, looking in.

  6. Rahm fights backpublished at 15:12 BST 10 July

    Rahm -2 (65)

While there has been plenty of focus on a rare missed cut for Scottie Scheffler, another big name looks likely to sneak into the weekend.

Jon Rahm shot a scrappy 73 yesterday, but a birdie two on his last hole today earned a 65 and puts him on the cut line at two under.

    McIlroy -7, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -5 (5)

Time to unleash the drivers on the sixth.

Chris Gotterup lands in the first cut on the right-hand side, while Rory McIlroy and Bob MacIntyre wind up in a simialr position on the left.

  8. McIlroy moves to within two of leadpublished at 15:03 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -7, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -5 (5)

Chris Gotterup judges his birdie look to perfection, as the balls drops in the hole with just a few revolutions to spare.

Next up, Rory McIlroy, who also drops one in for a birdie. He's just two shots off the lead with a whole lot of golf left to play this afternoon.

Bob MacInyre walks off with a par.

Par three, 160 yards, plays way downhill. Sounds easy enough, right?

Chris Gotterup and Rory McIlroy land it on the green, but Bob MacIntyre overcooks it has a putt from off the short stuff.

He knocks that to a couple of feet away.

    Von Dellingshausen -7 (64)

Nicolai von Dellingshausen will be an unfamiliar name to most, but he's third in the standings after a round of 64 moved him to seven under for the tournament.

Four birdies, an eagle and no bogeys for the German. A good day's work.

If you want an illustration of how sunny it's been over the past couple of days, this spectator's cap tan does it pretty well.

I've had my sun cream on, so no such issues.

    Par, par, par.

    Decent approaches but not birdies.

    On to the next.

It's a lovely view out to the Firth of Forth from the par-four fourth, with all three players in this group able to savour the walk up to their balls in the fairway.

Rory McIlroy is first to go and stick it to 10 feet, Chris Gotterup next and he's about double that distance away but still safe on the green.

Time for Bob MacIntyre next, with 126 yards to go. He splits his playing partners.

    A trio of solid approaches.

  14. Postpublished at 14:35 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -6, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -4 (3)

Rory McIlroy dinks his chip over a ridge in the green, but it stops short of dropping for a birdie.

Two putts for birdie follow from his playing partners.

Chris Gotterup is out of his putt early, he knew it didn't have the legs to get there.

Same story for Bob MacIntyre, he bends his knees and looks to the sky in an exasperated manner before it comes to a halt.

They walk off with pars all around, ultimately.

205 yards of the par three third face this group next.

    Chris Gotterup? On the green.

    Bob MacIntyre? On the green.

Rory McIlroy? On the green... before his ball trundles down a slope and off it.

    Kim -6

That's how you play a par five.

Tom Kim bombs a drive 345 yards down the par-five seventh, hits a 226-yard approach to 40 feet, and sinks the putt with no sweat.

He's now just three off the lead and in a share of fourth.

  18. Back-to-back birdies for Gotteruppublished at 14:21 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -6, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -4 (2)

Right, can Rory McIlroy conjure up some magic with this chip?

Oh, nearly. His ball rolls out nicely but doesn't turn into the hole.

Birdie putt for Bob Macintyre next, but it curls up a tap-in short of the hole. Par for him.

Chris Gotterup, after a magnificent second, walks off with a birdie.

Back-to-back birdies for last year's champion, not bad at all.

    McIlroy -6, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -3 (1)

Bob MacIntyre has some thick stuff on the right-hand side to contend with, but he manages to steer his ball onto the green with no hassle.

It's even better for Chris Gotterup, who drops it within kick-in birdie range from 146 yards.

    McIlroy -6, MacIntyre -3, Gotterup -3 (1)

A wayward tee shot from Rory McIlroy on the second leaves him a fiendishly tricky second from some thick rough.

The ball is sitting up, just, so he might be able to get it up and on the green from roughly 180 yards away.

He steps off the ball and takes his stance twice, moving some twigs that are blowing into his view.

Third time lucky, he picks his window and strikes it clean, it drops to the left of the green, avoiding a bunker.

    Decent recovery from there.
