    McIlroy -8, MacIntyre -5, Gotterup -7 (13)

Bob MacIntyre's drive at the gettable 14th runs through the back of the green, as does Chris Gotterup's.

Rory McIlroy's tee shot is judged to perfection though and he has a great chance for eagle coming up.

  2. Birdies for MacIntyre & Gotterup but McIlroy drops backpublished at 17:40 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -8, MacIntyre -5, Gotterup -7 (13)

No issues with the flat stick for Bob MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup, who both gain a shot, but Rory McIlroy's par putt fails to drop.

He is a shot back from Jordan Smith and Tom Kim at the top.

  3. Postpublished at 17:38 BST 10 July

    Kim -9 (66), Fox -4 (65)

It's a closing par for co-leader Tom Kim to complete a fine round of 66.

Ryan Fox knocks in a birdie after a lovely approach to go one lower.

  4. Postpublished at 17:35 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (12)

Rory McIlroy chips back into the fairway and then almost holes his wedge shot.

It spins back to six feet for his par.

Bob MacIntyre goes one better from the fairway and should make birdie, while Chris Gotterup also throws a dart with his approach.

  5. McIlroy in the treespublished at 17:29 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (12)

Rory McIlroy hates his drive at 13 as soon as it leaves the clubface.

It's miles right and in the middle of the trees.

  6. Scott battling to make cutpublished at 17:27 BST 10 July

    Scott -1 (14)

    Jack Herrall
BBC Sport Scotland at the Renaissance Club

Adam Scott, who will play in his 101 consecutive major championship next week at The Open, is in a fight to make the cut this week.

He takes a wood out of his bag on the 14th tee and as soon as it compresses off the club face he chuckles to himself and asks it to sit to the left.

He’s running out of birdie chances to avoid packing his stuff this evening.

  7. Postpublished at 17:26 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (12)

Rory McIlroy gives himself a lengthy birdie look at the 12th - it looks good the whole way, but dies just short of the hole and he taps in for par.

Bob MacIntyre got a good read off McIlroy, but can't take advantage and he too makes par.

Chris Gotterup makes it a trio of fives having also missed his birdie putt.

    M W Lee -7 (15)

Another player making a move is Australian Min Woo Lee.

He rolls in a four foot birdie putt at the stadium hole to get to seven under.

  9. Kim moves joint toppublished at 17:24 BST 10 July

    Kim -9 (17)

We now have a three-way tie for the lead.

Tom Kim makes it back-to-back birdies with a magic two on the par-three 17th.

The pin is tucked away on the left of the green behind a bunker, but his brave tee shot pays off.

  10. Postpublished at 17:19 BST 10 July

    N Hojgaard -6, Cantlay -2, Ferguson -1 (14)

Nicolai Hojgaard finds the dancefloor with a booming drive on the 14th.

Not to be outdone, Ewen Ferguson steps up and does likewise. Both players make birdie.

Patrick Cantlay - who shared the lead overnight but is struggling today - lands in the rough short left, overshoots the green with his chip and ends up with bogey.

He'll be kicking himself. At 345 yards, this short par four is playing as the easiest hole on the course today.

  11. Postpublished at 17:14 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (11)

The wind continues to cause problems late on day two.

Chris Gotterup appears to have gone in a greenside bunker at the par-five 12th, with Rory McIlroy and Bob MacIntyre in the rough not far away after their second shots.

From the first cut of the rough down the left, Bob MacIntyre appears to have pulled the driver from his bag.

    He’s going for this.

  13. Postpublished at 17:11 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (11)

That's more like it from Rory McIlroy, who smashes driver down the middle of the fairway at 12.

Three TV cameras, two golf buggies, and a bunch of other people have all just raced down the 12th fairway anticipating what is to come.

The logistics involved in simply following this group around a golf course are mind boggling.

Jostling for camera positions at the tee, picking the best spot to catch them as they come down, and deciding when to jump a hole ahead to not be blocked out.

There are worse problems to have though.

  15. Pars all roundpublished at 17:05 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (11)

After finding the cabbage, Rory McIlroy shows immense strength to muscle his ball out and to the front edge of the green.

Two putts from there and the joint-leader walks off with a more than respectable par.

It's the same score for Bob MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup.

  16. Postpublished at 17:03 BST 10 July

    Kim -8 (16)

Tom Kim is quietly going about his business to good effect.

He drains an 18-footer for birdie on 16 to move eight under, one shot behind the leaders.

The South Korean is three under for his day, helped in no small part by an eagle on seven.

  17. Postpublished at 16:55 BST 10 July

We've got wind of around 12mph now, with gusts up to 25mph.

A testing little period for the late starters.

  18. Postpublished at 16:51 BST 10 July

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (10)

Two very wayward drives from Bob MacIntyre and Rory McIlroy at 11.

Home favourite MacIntyre finds a walkway and will have a decent lie, but McIlroy is in some thick rough and is in a spot of bother.

Chris Gotterup's drive also looks to be leaking right, but he gets a nice kick and ends up in the fairway.

  19. Postpublished at 16:50 BST 10 July

    Lowry +2, Spaun -1, Rai +1 (11)

    Jack Herrall
BBC Sport Scotland at the Renaissance Club

From the front edge of the 11th green, JJ Spaun’s putt creeps towards the hole and takes a ride around it in slo-mo before coming to a halt. He’ll tap that in for par.

Aaron Rai, wedge in hand, skips it deftly towards the hole and has four feet for his par.

After a terrific approach, Shane Lowry’s birdie putt dropping is met with rapturous applause.
