  1. 'Big wicket for Yorkshire'published at 11:57 BST 2 May

    Somerset 223-6 v Yorkshire 162

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Big wicket for Yorkshire. A third one this morning.

I think that's due reward for some good tight bowling by George Hill on and around off stump in the main and Tom Abell's just had a little push at one and edged it straight at Joe Root.

    Abell c Root b Hill 50 (Somerset 223-6 v Yorkshire 162)

Tom Abell reaches 50 and promptly gets out - a big wicket for Yorkshire considering how many runs the Somerset man has been scoring this campaign.

A big old edge to Joe Root gives George Hill his first dismissal of the contest and Yorkshire three wickets in the first hour of play.

  3. 200 runs

200 for Carlsonpublished at 11:54 BST 2 May

    Hants v Glam 415-3

Not the finest shot in a fine innings but an edge off Scott Currie has raced to the third man boundary and the Glamorgan skipper has his double hundred.

It has taken just 225 balls and has contained 27 fours and three sixes.

He takes off his helmet and salutes the dressing room with arms wide. Colin Ingram gives him a hug for good measure.

  4. Postpublished at 11:54 BST 2 May

    Somerset 222-5 v Yorkshire 162 – Somerset lead by 60

Will Smeed's appearance for Somerset today is notable in the fact that he actually made the decision to retire from red ball cricket three years ago at the age of 21 to concentrate on the limited overs game.

He reversed that decision recently but only made his first-class debut a couple of weeks ago, first called up as a sub against Essex and then named in the starting 11 against Hampshire.

Somerset head coach Jason Kerr said he had no hesitation in putting Smeed into the side.

So now he has the opportunity in red ball cricket at last, let's see how he gets on with it.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:51 BST 2 May

    Clarke lbw b Scriven 97 (Leics v Notts 442-7)

Super effort from Joe Clarke but he falls one lusty blow short of a century. Nervous nineties anyone?

It is the third time the Notts man has fallen in the 90s this season following 92 against Somerset and 94 against Warks.

  6. 'Green's been right on the money'published at 11:49 BST 2 May

    Leics v Notts 432-6

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

    A fifer for Ben Green.

The off stump toppled out of the ground, a spectator sight for the former Somerset man.

It was a wonder delivery, he's been right on the money this morning.

  7. Postpublished at 11:49 BST 2 May

    Leics v Notts 442-6

Lyndon James nearly gives Ben Green a sixth wicket, edging a flashy drive just over the jump of second slip for a boundary.

  8. Postpublished at 11:48 BST 2 May

    Hants v Glam 405-3

Kiran Carlson moves to 196 with another four off Codi Yusuf to reach his highest ever first class score, eclipsing the 192 he made against Sussex in 2023.

  9. 'A reasonable start from Hampshire'published at 11:46 BST 2 May

    Hants v Glam 398-3

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It's been a reasonable start from Hampshire. They've left it a little late, but it's something.

  10. 50 runs

for Tom Abellpublished at 11:45 BST 2 May

    Somerset 212-5 v Yorkshire 162 – Somerset lead by 39

Tom Abell has been in good form this season and he continues it with a half-century here.

It's been a careful and methodical one, no rushing at all to reach the milestone. His calming, anchoring innings was a big help to Josh Thomas yesterday.

Abell has two centuries already this season and will be looking for a third.

He's batting alongside Will Smeed now, who is finally off the mark after 20 balls.

  11. Five-wicket haulpublished at 11:44 BST 2 May

    Verreynne b Green 7 (Leics v Notts 432-6)

Lovely ball and Kyle Verreynne has played right inside it and lost his off stump.

Ben Green has been a one man attack and has 5-104 – the second five wicket haul of his first class career.

  12. Division Two latestpublished at 11:43 BST 2 May

Kent paceman Keith Dudgeon has dismissed both of Derbyshire's openers this morning - Harry Came and Caleb Jewell - to leave them 59-2. They trail Kent's first innings by 293.

Worcestershire have just made a breakthrough at Northants. Tom Taylor got Luke Procter for 21 and the hosts are now 57-1 in reply to the Pears' 306.

Durham and England seamer Matthew Potts has picked up his second wicket at Lord's, removing Middlesex keeper Joe Cracknell for 42. Ryan Higgins is still there on 82, with his side on 301-6.

    Kellaway c Brown b Yusuf 0 (Hants v Glam 398-3)

Ben Kellaway sits in his pads all day yesterday and again this morning (he probably slept in them last night) and now he lasts just six balls.

Codi Yusuf gets this to spit off the pitch a little and wicketkeeper Ben Brown takes a catch moving smartly to his right.

  15. 'Fortunately for Hampshire it hit the stumps'published at 11:35 BST 2 May

    Hants v Glam 397-2

    Jemma Green
Former Hampshire Women's player on BBC Radio Solent

The partnership that was building to a record for Glamorgan has been broken by a run out.

Fletcha Middleton was the fielder and it wasn't the best throw, it was quite a loopy throw that Ben Brown struggled to collect and fortunately for Hampshire it's hit the stumps.

So, that's a blow for Glamorgan and Zain ul Hassan.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:32 BST 2 May

    ul-Hassan run out 143 (Hants v Glam 397-2)

A direct hit from the deep and the partnership is done.

Zain-ul-Hassan cuts to backward point where Fletcha MIddleton picks up the ball and sends in a loopy throw to the striker's end.

ul-Hassan was always going for two runs and would have been home had the ball needed to be gathered by Ben Brown.

But his chuck pings the stumps and a 318-run partnership for the second wicket is done.

  17. 'Good decision to persist with Green'published at 11:26 BST 2 May

    Leics v Notts 422-5

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It was an inside edge onto the stumps and Jack Haynes is out for 15.

Ben Green has a fourth wicket, it was a good decision by Ian Holland to persist with him. He was good yesterday and he's been good this morning and gets the first wicket on day two of this match.

  18. 'A good delivery by Jack White'published at 11:22 BST 2 May

    Somerset 201-5 v Yorkshire 162

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Well, that's not going to help my co-commentator's nerves.

It was a good delivery by Jack White, you wouldn't say devastating and he's probably missing all three poles.

But it's just in that corridor and Thomas Rew's just faced one ball. It's his first match, he's a little bit nervous probably a nervy little push and Fin Bean is a good grabber at slip and took it well.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:22 BST 2 May

    Haynes b Green 15 (Leics v Notts 422-5)

Thick inside edge and Jack Haynes chops on to his stumps.

Ben Green was the pick of the bowling yesterday and he has a fourth wicket now to give him 4-95.

It was not the most threatening delivery, just hung outside off stump at medium pace, but Haynes has reached for it.

  20. Postpublished at 11:22 BST 2 May

    Surrey 32-0 v Sussex 358-9 dec

Rory Burns dispatches the ball to the boundary as he and Dom Sibley build the Surrey score at The Kia Oval.

They've added 13 in the opening 20 minutes.
