So far so good for Adam Lyth and Fin Bean as Yorkshire begin their second innings.

They are looking to reduce a deficit that probably isn't as large as they were expecting it to be first thing this morning.

As forecast, the rain is closing in on Taunton and Southampton, but hopefully we'll get plenty of cricket elsewhere for the rest of today.

For the time being, play is getting under way at all seven grounds for the afternoon session on day two...

Yorkshire's morning, as Somerset lost seven wickets in adding just 73 to their overnight 201-3.

Josh Thomas was first to go, without adding to his overnight 136, followed in quick succession by Thomas Rew. Not the debut he would have been looking for.

Tom Abell had reached a painstaking 50 when he edged to slip, Craig Overton was cleaned up by Logan van Beek, and a promising partnership of 42 between Will Smeed and Lewis Gregory was ended by a rare catch in the deep by Joe Root, as Gregory went for the slog sweep against his former team-mate, Dom Bess.

The end came quickly, Migael Pretorius and Alfie Ogorne falling in successive balls to Matt Revis, leaving Smeed high and dry on 36 not out.

An excellent morning for Surrey with both Dom Sibley and Rory Burns reaching half-centuries without any real alarms.

The weather looks set fair in south London and under cloudless skies and a good pitch Sussex could be facing a long day in the field.

One positive for Sussex is that the bowling has been tight restricting Surrey to a fraction over three an over but with the ball now 39 overs old batting is only likely to get easier.

Having been in such a dominant position overnight, Glamorgan could afford to brush off the loss of four wickets this morning.

They have a huge lead over Hampshire and with two proper batters still at the crease in Sean Dickson and Chris Cooke they look set to extend their lead even further.

With rain forecast from the middle of the afternoon session onwards, there seems little point in the visitors batting again.

No wickets to report as Rory Burns and Dom Sibley both make to half-centuries at lunch.

The morning session has belonged to the Foxes which after emphatically losing all three on day one is welcome relief to the hosts.

Ben Green's career best 7-112 proved the cutting edge as Notts effort with the bat rather fell away losing their last six wickets for 85 runs.

That said, Notts remain in a very strong position in the contest for all that they did not make a breakthrough in those two overs.

They will return in 40 minutes refreshed, replete and raring to go.

Chris Cooke nudges a single into the on side and ambles through for a leisurely single to bring up the 500 for Glamorgan, a dot ball follows and that is lunch.

Kiran Carlson's magnificent and career best 209 has anchored the Glamorgan batting effort after, it should be noted, Hants misread the pitch and put them in.

Weather is forecast to intervene at some stage this afternoon and it appears that the visitors are in no mood to stop until then but 500 is a psychological barrier they will be happy to have put up.

Well that was all over very quickly, what a strange end to Somerset's first innings.

Alfie Ogborne is out first ball to give Matt Revis two wickets in two balls and end the Somerset innings with the hosts 112 in front.

Will Smeed is unbeaten on 36 and it was the decision of his captain Lewis Gregory to attack Dom Bess' spin that prompted the last three wickets to fall in 10 balls.

A healthy lead for Somerset but they would have expected more considering they were 201-3 at the start of play.

Lewis Gregory caught brilliantly in the deep by Joe Root.

It's a superb boundary catch by Root, moving to his right and taking it quite low down, he made good ground to it and showed good hands.

He can't take many catches like that but he's just shown that he can field very well anywhere on the field of play.

Leicestershire will be hoping they bowled very well this morning (which they did) and that the pitch has not changed significantly as they prepare to start their reply.

Notts were imperious yesterday but lost their last six wickets for 85 in the morning session which could bode well for their bowlers and not so well for Rishi Patel and Jake Weatherald who will open the batting.
