  1. Positive start for Durhampublished at 12:18 BST 22 June

    Durham 21-0 v Northants - Target 295

Ben McKinney has decided attack is the best form of defence against Northants' threatening new-ball attack, smashing Harry Conway back over his head for four.

If it’s up, it’s going, apparently.

There’s a big onus on McKinney here for Durham. He is past 500 runs for the season and averaging more than 50 in the County Championship.

  2. Rew a star in the makingpublished at 12:17 BST 22 June

    Somerset 208 & 382-8 v Warks 330

A word on Thomas Rew who has scored back-to-back centuries for Somerset and is building his reputation nicely.

Today's 149 is his highest score of the season and he now has over 400 runs for the campaign - having played only three matches.

His average is 81 and is up there with some stellar run-scoring names in the batting charts despite playing half the number of games the others have.

We had someone message us yesterday saying he would go on to score 10,000 Test runs for England.

Maybe a bit much for now but he has already proved he is a classy player with a big future ahead of him.

  3. Not outpublished at 12:16 BST 22 June

    Kent v Middlesex 15-1 - target 231

Ben Geddes goes on the back foot to play defensively.

The ball rolls back off his bat and pad and hits leg-stump but the bails stay on.

Roars from the Kent players as they expect a second wicket - how lucky is Mr Geddes?

    Bracey lbw b Waite 0 (Worcs 388 v Glos 289 & 84-4)

Isn't two-innings cricket a weird and wonderful beast?

For three days, this game was meandering. A draw seemed more or less certain, but Worcestershire have blown it open in 20 minutes.

Matthew Waite, bowling over the wicket, strikes James Bracey on the pads and the finger goes up. The left-hander plays for the angle across, there's a bit of movement back in and he's toast.

From 81-1 to 84-4 and still 15 runs behind.

  5. Postpublished at 12:12 BST 22 June

    Glamorgan 11-1 v Surrey - target 195

Home skipper KIran Carlson is seeking to calm any Glamorgan nerves after that awful run out of Billy Root.

He majestically drives Jordan Clark to the extra-cover boundary to collect his second four.

That is followed by something even more expansive but he finds fresh air and the ball flies through to Ollie Pope.

    Rew c Davies b Webster 149 (Somerset 208 & 381-7 v Warks 330)

    Now then...

What a shame for Thomas Rew who falls on 149.

Having not got a wicket since the 63rd over yesterday afternoon Warwickshire now have two in as many overs.

Beau Webster tempts Rew into a shot across his pads with a ball down leg and he feathers it behind to Alex Davies.

We were thinking where is this game going if Somerset's Rew and Overton stay in, well they're both gone now and it looks like game on.

    Robson b Milnes 7 (Kent 13-1 v Middlesex - target 231)

    Spectacular stuff.

That is quick from Matt Milnes and Sam Robson leaves it alone only for the ball to nip back and uproot his off-stump.

In comes Max Holden, the first innings hero for Middlesex.

  8. wicket

    Root run out (Lawes) 0 (Glamorgan 0-1 v Surrey - target 195)

That is comical, unless you support Glamorgan.

Billy Root sets off for a leg-bye which is not there and Asa Tribe holds his ground.

Both batters end up at the non-striker's end, not sure what was said as they came face-to-face but we probably cannot repeat it.

That was real village green stuff as Tom Lawes was almost laughing as he whipped the bails off.

Skipper Kiran Carlson is next in.

  9. Postpublished at 12:01 BST 22 June

    Kent v Middlesex 13-0 - target 231

A bit of playing and missing from the Middlesex openers Sam Robson and Ben Geddes to start with.

Plenty of noise from the Kent fielders as you would expect.

    Overton lbw Yates 111 (Somerset 208 & 381-7 v Warks 330)

    Cometh the hour.

As the clock ticks the midday the Bears grab the important scalp of Craig Overton.

It's the spin of Rob Yates that does the trick. Overton goes to defend it and it spins back into his pads in front of the stumps and that's out.

It looks like it pitches outside off but then jags back in.

It brings to an end an absolutely fantastic innings from Overton who is enjoying a brilliant season.

  11. Postpublished at 12:00 BST 22 June

    Glamorgan v Surrey 0-0 - target 195

They are back out at Cardiff.

How tricky will this target of 195 prove for Glamorgan?

The Welsh county are searching for a third win of the season and will go above Surrey if they get there.

There is no Gus Atkinson to bowl for Surrey either.

There are 81 overs to be bowled so run-rate will not be an issue.

NORTHANTS ALL OUT FOR 250published at 11:58 BST 22 June

    Broad c Robinson b Raine 49 (Durham 405 v Northants 450 & 250)

That's Northants' second innings over with Justin Broad nicking Ben Raine's outswinger to Ollie Robinson behind the stumps.

He falls just one short of a half-century to leave Durham needing 296 to win.

This one is set up beautifully. Northants may still just be marginal favourites given the ball is moving around but Durham have given themselves a chance with an excellent hour on the fourth morning - and they bat deep.

    Hammond c&b Singh 0 (Worcs 388 v Glos 289 & 81-3)

The Pears do go bang, bang!

Miles Hammond lasted only 300 balls for his not out 139 in his first innings, but his second go lasts just two balls.

He comes down the pitch to Fateh Singh and the ball is back in Singh's hands. Worcestershire are celebrating, but Hammond is absolutely unmoved as he moves back into his crease.

The umpires confer and the decision is out. Hammond cannot believe it and trudges off at funereal pace, but now Worcestershire do have a sniff with the batting side still 18 in arrears.

  14. Somerset lead by 250published at 11:53 BST 22 June

    Somerset 208 & 377-6 v Warks 330

So, approaching the hour-mark of play this morning and Warwickshire have been unable to remove Craig Overton or Thomas Rew, who have given Somerset a healthy advantage now.

They appear happy to accumulate runs slowly at this stage, there's no sense of needing to score quickly and they aren't under too much pressure from the bowlers.

SURREY ALL OUT FOR 447published at 11:52 BST 22 June

    Clark c Cooke b Hadley 36 (Glamorgan 358 v Surrey 105 & 447)

    Finally!

Jordan Clark goes for the hook off Ryan Hadley and only succeeds in skying a catch to wicketkeeper Chris Cooke.

A fourth wicket for Hadley and Glamorgan will require 195 runs for victory.

  16. new ball

New ballpublished at 11:50 BST 22 June

    Durham v Northants 242-9 - lead by 287

Ben Raine is re-introduced to take the new cherry and see if he can polish off Northants.

It has been a great day four so far for the home side with three quick wickets - the only blot on the copybook Matty Potts's spill from Justin Broad off Kasey Aldridge in the last over with the old ball.

Will the South African make them pay? He's till there on 44 not out.

  17. Postpublished at 11:50 BST 22 June

    Somerset 208 & 377-6 v Warks 330

Chance for a Warwickshire catch... George Garton can't get there and not only does he not get there to take the catch the ball actually spins past him and away for four.

Craig Overton has barely given the Bears a sniff but an awkward pull shot there almost saw the end of his innings.

In fairness to Garton he had to go for the catch and just couldn't get there in time and it was unfortunate that it squirmed away to the rope.

  18. 100 runs

    100 partnershippublished at 11:48 BST 22 June

    Glamorgan v Surrey 442-9 - lead by 189 runs

Admittedly the use of two nightwatchmen means Jordan Clark and Tom Lawes are not your everyday last wicket pairing but that should not take anything from what they have done.

Clark pulls for a single to bring up the 100 partnership.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:47 BST 22 June

    Boorman lbw b Singh 28 (Worcs 388 v Glos 289 & 81-2)

Oh hello, this will get the Pears interested!

Tommy Boorman has resisted for 107 balls, but the 108th is his downfall and not sure there is too much we can do as Fateh SIngh gets one to turn and straighten from his left-arm round position but it's the lack of bounce that does for Boorman as it hits the pads.

Absolutely dead as a dodo. In comes first innings centurion Miles Hammond.

    Kent v Middlesex 0-0 - target 231

Off go Middlesex in their pursuit of the 231 runs required for victory.

Kent need 10 wickets and start with a maiden.

There are 86 overs remaining in the day.
