    Somerset 208 & 347-6 v Warks 330

A quiet start in Taunton with just a a single from the first over from Craig Overton.

But the same batter then grabs the first boundary of the day in the second over off Ethan Bamber to move to within five of a century.

  2. 400 up for Surreypublished at 11:03 BST 22 June

    Glamorgan v Surrey 402-9 - lead by 149 runs

Tom Lawes drives Timm van der Gugten to the cover boundary to bring up the Surrey 400.

There is no doubt batting has got easier in Cardiff which will bolster Glamorgan once they do break this final wicket partnership.

Heading into the final day at New Road, Worcestershire have put themselves in a good position.

They have Gloucestershire one down in their second innings, but still trailing by 40.

The trouble is in this game, things have happened slowly. The Pears put 388 on the board yesterday with Ethan Brookes hitting 66 and Matthew Waite, 63, but it took nearly 150 overs to do it.

And while they claimed the wicket of Joe Phillips before the close, the visitors saw off 31 overs.

So the Pears are in a good spot but fast forward has to be hit at some point today to claim a win.

“It has been a tough game for both sides," said Brookes. "The wicket is quite slow, it has taken spin quite well, so it is an attritional game of cricket.

  5. Intriguing day in prospect at CLSpublished at 10:57 BST 22 June

    Durham 405 v Northants 450 & 200-6

Durham have lost Ben Stokes but they may still fancy their chances of a final-day run chase against Northamptonshire if they make quick work of the visitors' tail this morning.

Northamptonshire have carved out a lead of 245 runs with four second innings wickets remaining after a maiden first-class half-century from injury substitute Gus Miller.

But Durham, who have Colin Ackermann in their line-up after Stokes was withdrawn by England, are still in the contest with three wickets from Matthew Potts.

They will need to break a seventh-wicket stand already worth 36 between George Bartlett and Justin Broad early though in what is set to be a tense conclusion to the battle of the top two in the County Championship Second Division.

  6. In the balance at Canterburypublished at 10:55 BST 22 June

Kent still have work to do to set Middlesex something beyond not only their batsmen but also the time limits on the final day.

"The game is definitely in the balance. The wicket is quick and changing and the game is quick and changing," said Kent batter Ekansh Singh.

"We felt that after the first innings we were in the driver's seat and after getting them six down, we were definitely on top.

“They had one really good partnership which put the game in the balance, and then the wicket is changing again with a bit more variable bounce, which gives us confidence that any more runs we can get over 200 will be a real challenge for them."

Middlesex's Zafar Gohar played a crucial role with 95 in his partnership with centurion Max Holden.

"I felt like the pitch has gone a bit slower from day one, but the game is very well balanced, but hopefully we'll get it done tomorrow," he said.

“Max is such a good player, but I knew that we had to work hard to come back in this game, so I'm glad we did."

  7. Surrey still alivepublished at 10:54 BST 22 June

    Glamorgan 358 v Surrey 105 & 398-9 - lead by 145 runs

Surrey have kept Glamorgan waiting after the game looked like it could be done and dusted on Sunday with the visitors forced to follow-on 253 runs behind.

But a century from skipper Rory Burns, Ollie Pope with 73 and some lower order resistance means somehow we are arriving on the final day with Surrey still alive, just.

"It was always going to be hard work. Things happened quickly in the first innings and we knew it wasn't going to go that way again," said Glamorgan's overseas bowler Ryan Hadley.

"Credit to them, they bat deep and with the two nightwatchers it means their eight and nine are now at 10 and 11 but we knew that heading in and wickets came in clumps."

Surrey's Burns is pleased with the spirit they have shown after the shambles of the first innings.

"It was a very good partnership (for the 10th wicket) and hopefully they keep extending it as long as they can," he said.

"We set out to bat all day so we've made it hard for the Glammy boys - a few weary bodies at the end."

  8. Rew & Overton lead Somerset fightbackpublished at 10:52 BST 22 June

    Somerset 208 & 341-6 v Warks 330 - Somerset lead by 219 runs

Somerset pair Thomas Rew and Craig Overton will resume their excellent partnership this morning after leading an impressive fightback on day three.

When Archie Vaughan was out for seven, Somerset were struggling on 148-6, only 26 runs ahead, and looked to be heading towards defeat but Rew and Overton then put on almost 200 together to turn the game in their team's favour.

For Rew, who completed his A-Levels at King's College, Taunton, on Thursday, it was back-to-back centuries to take him to 133 not out at the close, while Overton looks in great form with the bat and is unbeaten on 89.

All of which means Warwickshire have gone from being in a strong position to being on the back foot. With all results still possible it feels like the morning session will be crucial in how this turns out.
