  1. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:58 BST 21 June

    Essex 184 & 181-8 v Notts 457

Essex trail by 92 runs and there will not be many at Chelmsford who will believe that Notts are going to bat again in this contest.

If that is the case, then the reigning champions will have Liam Patterson-White to thank for a telling contribution.

The native of Co. Durham looks well on track to post a 10 wicket haul. His 3-45 and 6-43 have already given him his best match figures.

One more and he will be claiming a match ball for his mantelpiece.

  2. 'We wanted to hit them hard' - Arthurpublished at 15:58 BST 21 June

Derbyshire beat Lancashire by nine wickets

Derbyshire head of cricket Mickey Arthur said he was proud of his side's performance in their comprehensive nine-wicket win over Lancashire.

"We wanted to hit them hard and start on the front foot and I think we did that. There were some very good stand out performances but the thing that pleased me the most was that everyone in the dressing room has played a role in that win which is fantastic," he said.

On Ben Aitchison, who took seven wickets in the match, Arthur said: "He's bowling beautifully, he's at you all the time and he's done a fantastic job for us.

"It's so nice to see him getting the rewards after coming through a couple of stress fractures and working really hard on his rehab."

    Carson c Orr b Organ 3 (Sussex 159 & 124-8 v Hampshire 191 & 220)

It would have to be a miracle for Sussex to win from this point.

Jack Carson has gone for three from 13 balls and it leaves Sussex on 124-8, this is not the innings they would have wanted, and you get the sense Hampshire will have this one.

  5. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 15:55 BST 21 June

    Durham 405 v Northants 450 &

Northants are leading by 176 with seven second innings wickets in hand which is a strong position whichever way you look at it.

Durham have had flashes of hope like when Matthew Potts took two in an over to leave the visitors 15-2 but the partnership of 92 between Nathan McSweeney and Gus Miller has righted the ship.

It remains the case, as it did after lunch, that Durham need not just one breakthrough but a couple if they are to get a hold of this contest.

  6. Postpublished at 15:53 BST 21 June

    Somerset 208 & 207-6 v Warks 330

A bit loose from Craig Overton as he plays away from his body and a thick outside edge races past the slips to the third man boundary.

Ethan Bamber then runs the next delivery past the outside edge as Overton plays at a ball marked 'leave alone'.

Nathan Gilchrist to share the new ball.

  7. new ball

    Somerset 208 & 201-6 v Warks 330

Craig Overton plays out a second successive maiden from Dan Mousley and Bears skipper Ed Barnard takes the second new ball.

Ethan Bamber will have first use of it. Next challenge for the set Somerset pair.

200 for Somersetpublished at 15:44 BST 21 June

    Somerset 208 & 200-6 v Warks 330

Dan Mousley is in for his first bowl of the match and serves up a maiden

Another landmark for Somerset as Thomas Rew pushes Manav Suthar down the groudn for a single to bring up the 200 mark.

Just 1.4 overs until Warwickshire can take the second new ball.

  9. WORCS ALL OUT FOR 388published at 15:42 BST 21 June

    Worcs 388 v Glos 289 - Worcs lead by 99

Worcestershire can't quite make it to a nice round lead of 100 but they'll be pleased to be 99 ahead at this stage.

Starting the day on 210-5 - trailing by 79 - most of today's runs to wipe out the deficit and build the lead came from a partnership between Ethan Brookes (66) and Matthew Waite (63).

Fateh Singh was the last man out for Worcs as he was bowled by a flat delivery from Graeme van Buuren that crept under the bat.

Glos will begin their second innings after tea.

    Pepper c McCann b James 0 (Essex 175-8, trail by 98 runs)

Michael Pepper lasts just seven deliveries as he is squared up by Lyndon James, the ball squirting off the leading edge of his bat to Freddie McCann at slip.

Essex are creeping meekly to defeat here.

    Somerset 208 & 198-6 v Warks 330

Beau Webster continues as Craig Overton (29) nudges into the legside and the single brings up the fifty partnership for the seventh wicket with Thomas Rew (60).

It's come off a brisk 77 balls. Crucial runs for the home side as they look to give their spinners something to bowl at in the fourth innings.

The lead is still a shaky 76.

    Price c Brown b Jack 1 (Sussex 159 & 117-6 Hampshire 191 & 220)

Another one for Hampshire, and it is turning into the Eddie Jack show here in Hove.

Tom Price is walking back to the pavilion after seven balls and just a solitary run, it is caught down by the leg side by Ben Brown again.

    It is all Hampshire now.

    Allison lbw b Patterson-White 56 (Essex 184 & 174-7 v Notts 457)

Essex are still 99 runs short of making Notts bat again and now Charlie Allison, who had looked good on his way to a half century (56), will not be around to get them there.

Patterson-White is having a game here and that is his ninth wicket in the match - he has 3-40 to go with his 6-43 in the first innings.

Leicestershire players huddle together to celebrate a Yorkshire wicketImage source, Shutterstock

And there it is! Alex Green cleans up Jack White for 21 to finish with figures of 3-61 and five wickets in the match.

Leicestershire have bossed this game from ball one and seal a rare innings win over Yorkshire - just their third-ever in fact.

More importantly for this current crop of players, it's a first Division One win of the season since promotion.

And a first top-flight win in the Championship for 23 years. We could go on.

They will need a few more wins when the league season resumes in late August if they are to bridge the gap to the rest of the teams and give themselves a shot at a second season of Division One cricket.

    But this is some statement.

    Coles c Brown b Jack 25 (Sussex 159 & 117-5 v Hampshire 191 & 220)

The wickets are falling now James Coles is gone for 25 from 50 balls and Hampshire will be pleased with that.

It is another Eddie Jack ball, Coles will be wondering why he tried to play that shot, it has bounced and caught the edge of the bat - an easy catch for Ben Brown.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Dan Moriartypublished at 15:29 BST 21 June

    Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 229-9

It may be in a losing cause, but you have to doff your cap to Dan Moriarty for this forlorn counter-punch.

He steps down the wicket to Ajaz Patel and launches him to the long on boundary for four.

At least he has the consolation of a maiden first-class fifty. Hard to believe from this performance that his previous best was 29!

The landmark is raised off 84 balls with 11 fours.

  17. wicket

    Curran c Cooke b Van der Gugten (Glamorgan 358 v Surrey 105 & 254-6)

Sam Curran goes for a single - it is one run from two balls.

It was a slight poke outside off stump and it is straight into the hands of the wicket-keeper.

Glamorgan may feel as if they are back in the game now.

Ryan Patel will make his way onto the field.

  18. get involved

Get Involved - Stokes & Atkinson withdrawn from county gamespublished at 15:22 BST 21 June

Pulling out England players from the county championship is perfectly acceptable. It isn’t disrespectful of the county game if it’s making sure they are fit to play for their country.

    David T, Eastbourne

Why has Stokes and Atkinson been withdrawn from their County matches?

    Tony, Durham

It appears to be because they will be back with England for the third Test Tony. Whether or not they needed to be withdrawn halfway through a County Championship match is obviously a talking point!

  19. 50 runs

50 for Charlie Allisonpublished at 15:21 BST 21 June

    Essex 184 & 165-6 v Notts 457

Charlie Allison raises his bat after chopping a single to mid on off the bowling of Liam Patterson-White.

It has been just what his captain would have ordered as they passed on his way to the crease at 75-5.

The half century has taken 97 balls and contained three fours and two sixes.

    Well played, sir.

Tom Alsop has gone this time round and it is Tobey Albert who has taken the catch.

Alsop managed 43 runs from 129 balls, but his innings is over. It now puts Sussex at 108-4 as they chase this game.

The game has swung back in the favour of Hampshire now - it is changing all the time here in Hove.
