Change of pace for Notts and Liam Patterson-White is into the fray.

The spinner bowled well in helpful conditions in the first innings taking 6-43 which was his first class best bowling.

In drying conditions on a pitch that traditionally favours spin (why wouldn't it when Simon Harmer is in the ranks) this could be a key spell for the visitors.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:49 BST

    Hermann c Gilchrist b Suthar 34 (Somerset 208 & 49-2 v Warks 330)

A flick into the legside brings Jordan Hermann four more.

The Somerset opener got a superb century in that big win over champion county Nottinghamshire last time out and is settling into his work nicely.

    But then he's gone!

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:45 BST

    Potts c Zaib b Conway 12 (Northants 450 v Durham 347-9)

Another avoidable dismissal for Durham, who could miss a third batting point here.

Harry Conway fires that in towards the pads and Matthew Potts flicks dismissively straight to Saif Zaib at midwicket.

Following on from Ben Raine's shed collapse that was another that felt a bit soft.

  4. Postpublished at 11:42 BST

    Somerset 208 & 44-1 v Warks 330

Huge appeal from the close-in fielders as Jordan Hermann misses with a paddle sweep off Manav Suthar.

There's a noise before the ball finds the gloves of keeper Alex Davies, but unfortunately for the Bears it was the sound of Hermann's bat hitting the ground, not the ball.

The deficit is down to 78 as Jordan Thompson replaces Ethan Bamber.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:37 BST

    Jack c Hunt b Carson 24 (Sussex 159 v Hampshire 191 & 220)

It was caught at long on caught by Sean Hunt.

Sussex will need 253 to win, whilst Kyle Abbott remains not out on 23.

This could be an exciting day's cricket - the chase is on!

  6. 50 runs

50 up for Yorkshirepublished at 11:36 BST

    Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 56-3

Ben Green has been the Foxes most effective bowler this season but goes a little too full and Matt Revis unfurls a lovely cover drive for four.

And he holds the pose for good measure as the score ticks past 50. Well wouldn't you?

  7. Postpublished at 11:34 BST

    Somerset 208 & 34-1 v Warks 330

It hasn't taken long for a change as the Bears turn to spin in the ninth over of the morning.

Slow left-armer Manav Suthar gets turn and bounce to run his fifth ball just past Josh Shaw's defensive prod.

Encouragement that the Somerset spinners will also like to see - if their batters can give them somethng to bowl at.

  8. 50 for Burnspublished at 11:30 BST

    Glamorgan 358 v Surrey 105 & 111-2

Rory Burns hits his half-century as he hit 53 not out, it took him 109 balls to hit that marker and has over half of Surrey's total.

Surrey now trail Glamorgan by 142.

  9. Postpublished at 11:28 BST

    Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 45-3

A good leave from Matt Revis as Ben Green gets one to jag back in quite sharply past the off stump.

A few balls are beginning to keep a little low.

Green then runs a beauty past the outside edge.

A probing maiden from the Foxes strike bowler - it's tough out there for the batters.

  10. Subs all roundpublished at 11:27 BST

    Northants 450 v Durham 333-8

The official scorecard has yet to confirm but Northants have.

In addition to Ben Stokes's withdrawal, Northants skipper Luke Procter has been substituted out of the game after suffering a finger injury, trying to stop a straight drive from Stokes no less.

Gus Miller has come in as an injury replacement.

  11. Postpublished at 11:25 BST

    Sussex 159 v Hampshire 191 & 217-9

This partnership is now worth 44, as Eddie Jack hits a six as it goes over the boundary.

The Hampshire batters haven't looked in too much trouble this morning or threatened at all.

It feels like it could be a good day to bat, and a few too many here for Sussex.

  12. Weather forecastpublished at 11:24 BST

    #bbccricket

It's set to be another hot day with temperatures on the rise once again.

Temperatures are expected to remain high tomorrow with possible heatwave conditions during the week.

Hope everyone's keeping safe in the sun out there - a day for factor 50 and plenty of ice cream.

  13. Postpublished at 11:21 BST

    Somerset 208 & 34-1 v Warks 330

Josh Shaw made 28 at number nine in the first innings - the third highest contribution - and is enjoying his promotion up the order as nightwatchman.

A lovely backfoot punch brings him a first boundary.

So far so good for the hosts this morning.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:17 BST

    Bennett c Slater b O'Neill 5 (Essex 184 & 24-3 v Notts 457)

Tame dismissal as Charlie Bennett fishes outside off stump and plonks it into the hands of Ben Slater at point.

Not the start Essex needed with the hosts still trailing Notts first innings total by 249 runs.

Big effort needed from the new pairing of Tom Westley and Dean Elgar who are capable of putting a decent stand together.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:15 BST

    Raine b Parkinson 35 (Durham 323-8 v Northants 450)

What have you done there Ben Raine?

Well, in a nutshell, he has had a brain fade. Just a ball after a lovely sweep for four, he tries to lift ramp the ball to fine leg and clatters it into his stumps.

  16. New ball after 10published at 11:11 BST

    Sussex 159 v Hampshire 191 & 208-9

The Kyle Abbott and Eddie Jack partnership get just one run in the opening over, but that is one more to the tally and one closer to their second win of the season.

It is very defensive early on which is to be expected... they have just taken a new ball here in Hove.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:11 BST

    Whiteman c Cox b Davey 9 (Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 39-3)

Just what the hosts wanted - and what the visitors dreaded.

Ben Cox takes a stupendous one-handed catch with a Superman-style dive to his right to make the breakthrough.

Josh Davey got a little bit of movement back in to Sam Whiteman who gets an inside edge behind. A third wicket for Davey!

Matt Revis joins James Wharton with much work to do.

  18. Up and running at Grace Roadpublished at 11:08 BST

    Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 36-2

Josh Davey took two wickets in five balls to remove both Yorkshire openers late on day two and begins proceedings.

James Wharton was the only Yorks batter to pass fifty in the first innings and opens his account on day one by running through for three.

A Sam Whiteman single takes the deficit down to 232. A day to avoid glancing at the scoreboard perhaps if you're a batter.

  19. Play under way at Tauntonpublished at 11:04 BST

    Somerset 208 & 26-1 v Warks 330

Nathan Gilchrist runs in to get us under way on day three.

Jordan Hermann gets the scoreboard ticking over by scampering through for a leg bye before Josh Shaw pushes down the ground for two.

How many can the nightwatch add?

  20. Stokes remains in CLS - for nowpublished at 10:59 BST

Durham 302-7, trail Northants by 148

Ben Stokes is in CLS and has been throwing a few balls during the morning warm-up but he'll play no further part in this one, following his 95 against Northants yesterday.

He's been withdrawn by the ECB ahead of the third Test against New Zealand on Thursday.

So, it seems all's well again on the England front and a few people may well be scratching their heads wondering what the last week or so has been about?

As for this game, Stokes is being replaced by Colin Ackermann, but the South African spinner will only be allowed to bat and not bowl.

Durham avoided the follow-on in the final over last night and it's difficult to say which way this is going, on a slow Riverside track.
