    Sussex 159 v Hampshire 191 & 217-9

This partnership is now worth 44, as Eddie Jack hits a six as it goes over the boundary.

The Hampshire batters haven't looked in too much trouble this morning or threatened at all.

It feels like it could be a good day to bat, and a few too many here for Sussex.

  2. Weather forecastpublished at 11:24 BST 21 June

    #bbccricket

It's set to be another hot day with temperatures on the rise once again.

Temperatures are expected to remain high tomorrow with possible heatwave conditions during the week.

Hope everyone's keeping safe in the sun out there - a day for factor 50 and plenty of ice cream.

  3. Postpublished at 11:21 BST 21 June

    Somerset 208 & 34-1 v Warks 330

Josh Shaw made 28 at number nine in the first innings - the third highest contribution - and is enjoying his promotion up the order as nightwatchman.

A lovely backfoot punch brings him a first boundary.

So far so good for the hosts this morning.

  4. wicket

    Bennett c Slater b O'Neill 5 (Essex 184 & 24-3 v Notts 457)

Tame dismissal as Charlie Bennett fishes outside off stump and plonks it into the hands of Ben Slater at point.

Not the start Essex needed with the hosts still trailing Notts first innings total by 249 runs.

Big effort needed from the new pairing of Tom Westley and Dean Elgar who are capable of putting a decent stand together.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:15 BST 21 June

    Raine b Parkinson 35 (Durham 323-8 v Northants 450)

What have you done there Ben Raine?

Well, in a nutshell, he has had a brain fade. Just a ball after a lovely sweep for four, he tries to lift ramp the ball to fine leg and clatters it into his stumps.

  6. New ball after 10published at 11:11 BST 21 June

    Sussex 159 v Hampshire 191 & 208-9

The Kyle Abbott and Eddie Jack partnership get just one run in the opening over, but that is one more to the tally and one closer to their second win of the season.

It is very defensive early on which is to be expected... they have just taken a new ball here in Hove.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:11 BST 21 June

    Whiteman c Cox b Davey 9 (Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 39-3)

Just what the hosts wanted - and what the visitors dreaded.

Ben Cox takes a stupendous one-handed catch with a Superman-style dive to his right to make the breakthrough.

Josh Davey got a little bit of movement back in to Sam Whiteman who gets an inside edge behind. A third wicket for Davey!

Matt Revis joins James Wharton with much work to do.

  8. Up and running at Grace Roadpublished at 11:08 BST 21 June

    Leics 453 v Yorks 185 & 36-2

Josh Davey took two wickets in five balls to remove both Yorkshire openers late on day two and begins proceedings.

James Wharton was the only Yorks batter to pass fifty in the first innings and opens his account on day one by running through for three.

A Sam Whiteman single takes the deficit down to 232. A day to avoid glancing at the scoreboard perhaps if you're a batter.

  9. Play under way at Tauntonpublished at 11:04 BST 21 June

    Somerset 208 & 26-1 v Warks 330

Nathan Gilchrist runs in to get us under way on day three.

Jordan Hermann gets the scoreboard ticking over by scampering through for a leg bye before Josh Shaw pushes down the ground for two.

How many can the nightwatch add?

  10. Stokes remains in CLS - for nowpublished at 10:59 BST 21 June

Durham 302-7, trail Northants by 148

Ben Stokes is in CLS and has been throwing a few balls during the morning warm-up but he'll play no further part in this one, following his 95 against Northants yesterday.

He's been withdrawn by the ECB ahead of the third Test against New Zealand on Thursday.

So, it seems all's well again on the England front and a few people may well be scratching their heads wondering what the last week or so has been about?

As for this game, Stokes is being replaced by Colin Ackermann, but the South African spinner will only be allowed to bat and not bowl.

Durham avoided the follow-on in the final over last night and it's difficult to say which way this is going, on a slow Riverside track.

  11. Hampshire target their second win of the seasonpublished at 10:58 BST 21 June

Sussex team celebrating on Day One

Hampshire are on course to take their second win of the season in the County Championship. In what is his last match for the county Delano Potgieter took his half-century in Hampshire's second innings. Eddie Jack and Kyle Abbot are the two that remain to increase the lead over Sussex.

It was the Abbot show in the first innings with the South African bowler taking out six of the Sussex-men,

With Hampshire leading my 238 runs, Sussex will need to put in one of their standard great batting performances to claw it all back.

How it has all changed since day one here in Hove...

    Tom Norton bowling for Glamorgan

It has been quite an introduction to top flight cricket for Tom Norton who, you will remember, took a hat-trick on his first class debut earlier this season.

If he thought it was going to be downhill from there he could not have been more wrong with a 5-50 the centrepiece of a magnificent bowling effort from Glam here in Cardiff.

A delighted Norton, who finished last night by adding nightwatchman Sean Abbott to the haul, said: "I loved every minute out there with the boys and it was a very special moment again to do that.

"It was pretty mental after the third wicket getting Ollie Pope out I just turned to the boys and said, 'What is going on?' it's surreal. Like I said against Somerset (when I took a hat-trick), it's something I've wanted to do for a very long time."

  13. Foxes eye rare home win over Yorkshirepublished at 10:56 BST 21 June

Leicestershire all-rounder Rehan Ahmed warms up with a jog before play startsImage source, Shutterstock

Leicestershire maintained their first-day momentum as centuries from Rehan Ahmed and Nick Kelly drove them into a huge 268-run lead on first innings.

They start day three 236 in front with eight wickets to take as they target a first county championship home win over Yorkshire since 1986.

“Tomorrow, we think there is enough happening with the pitch," said Ahmed.

"There’s been a couple of heavy rollers on it and it’s quite bare at the full mark.

"It’s just a matter of bowling at the right pace and hopefully some spin off the straight for me and Jazzy (Ajaz Patel).”

Yorkshire lost both openers for single-figure scores before the close and need a big rearguard action to avoid defeat.

“If we can get in a position with a lead potentially, I think bowling spin on day four I could bring myself and Bessie (Dom Bess) into the game a bit more," said spinner Dan Moriarty who finished with four wickets.

"We’re still trying to win this game. It's going to be hard work, but we like hard work.”

We all know a football fan who, when their team is 3-0 up after 60 minutes, will say "we need one more".

That was the energy I sensed coming into Grace Road today. Everything tells you Leicestershire will win, that they should win, probably today. They have been excellent against Yorkshire, batting with real discipline yesterday and getting two late wickets on day two to put them in an utterly dominant position.

And yet, Leicestershire fans have been here before, and there are still nerves. They are so desperate for a victory that could keep them alive in their hunt for Division One survival.

Foxes fans haven't seen a top flight win here since 2003. Names like Snape, DeFreitas and

Yorkshire have the talent and ability to bat out the day, perhaps even two. But They have struggled on this pitch, which just started to misbehave last night.

Leicestershire, as Rehan Ahmed told me last night need to "be boring". Hit their lines and lengths, be ruthless and consistent, and they will win.

And yet, there's that nagging doubt at the back of your mind. Probably a Leicestershire disease...

Warwickshire moved themselves into a decent position after an attritional second day at Taunton.

After building up a 122-run lead on first innings, they then nipped out Somerset opener Josh Thomas cheaply.

"It was quite tough batting out there today and we had to put in a lot of graft," he said.

"Somerset bowled really well on what was a pretty docile wicket, but we're pretty happy with how we are situated at the halfway stage of the game."

Somerset head Jason Kerr was pleased with his side's application on Saturday after the "disappointment" of day one, but knows they have to better with the bat to give their spinners a chance in the second knock.

"There's a little bit of turn outside of off stump and, hopefully, it will deteriorate as the game goes on," he said.

"But first, we have to bat well enough to put ourselves in a position. The first session tomorrow will be all about ensuring Warwickshire have to bat again."

Jack Haynes and Fergus O'Neill have put Notts in a strong position

Current leaders Essex will start the third day in a perilous position against current champions Notts with the prospect of the two switching positions in the Division One table highly likely.

Late breakthroughs on Saturday have given Notts a glimpse of the Essex middle order already after Fergus O'Neill took 2-12.

But centurion Jack Haynes predicted spin not seam could be the key in the remainder of a match in which Liam Patterson-Whtie (6-43) and Simon Harmer (5-165) have already played a significant hand.

"We are in a strong position, thankfully. We got those two wickets at the end and really drove home our position," said the Notts batter. "But the wicket is taking spin. We knew it probably would, it’s pretty dry.

"It’s one where you first come in and it feels pretty hard to play, it’s spinning quite sharply at you, but you get used to it as you go through. Building pressure on batters when they come out seems really important."

Ben Stokes has been withdrawn from the match by Durham

If Durham are going to win this match they are going to have to do it without Ben Stokes after the all-rounder was subbed out for Colin Ackermann overnight.

Stokes's withdrawal means, a), he will presumably be facing New Zealand in the decider at Trent Bridge starting Thursday and, b), the curfew breaking cross sport bust up in a London nightclub after the first Test at Lord's will be forgiven or at least forgotten.

Whatever the ins and outs of that decision, he has at least left Durham with a fighting chance here at Chester-le-Street after a battling 95 with the bat top scored in their reply to Northants 450.

Will Rhodes weighed in behind the all-rounder with 62 as Northants seamers Harry Conway 3-47 and Ben Sanderson 4-81 accounted for most of the rest.

Good morning everyone, happy summer solstice day to you and thanks for joining us.

It's set to be another hot one today and tomorrow.

The big news this morning is that Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson have been withdrawn from their County Championship matches with Durham and Surrey respectively in an indication they will be available to play in the third Test against New Zealand.

Let's put you in the picture of how things stand around the grounds ahead of day three.
