    Six runs, including a classy boundary from Alex Lees from the first over of their reply.

    There is a long way to go in this game and indeed today, with 73 overs still to be bowled.

    Kyle Verreynne and Jack Haynes are giving it a bit of a hurry up for Notts after the dismissal of Haseeb Hameed.

    20 runs have come in three overs since that wicket and Notts are closing rapidly on the Essex first innings total of 184.

    Four overs so far and four maidens so far at Hove.

    It's fair to say Hampshire know time is on their side in this one and they will not play at any delivery they don't have to at the moment, around 20 minutes before the lunch break.

    Mason Crane is into the nineties for Glamorgan and looks to drive Lawrence but there is a partial stop by the fielder at wide mid-off and Crane scampers through for just a single.

    Kent's last-wicket stand reaches that annoying stage - 30 - between Matt Parkinson and Hasan Mahmud but Parkinson's innings comes to an end as he tries to come down the pitch to Toby Roland-Jones and edges low down to first slip, where Tom Helm takes it well.

    But 416 is a good score and Middlesex have got some batting to do.
