But 416 is a good score and Middlesex have got some batting to do.

Haseeb Hameed pushes into the covers for a couple of runs to go to 88 not out and bring up the 150 for Notts.

It ends up at deep backward point for a couple which brings up the 100 lead for Derbyshire.
Another thick edge brings four more and takes Aitchison to a brisk, if slightly fortunate, 18.

Simon Harmer's presence has failed to produce a wicket or even the threat of one and Notts are dealing with everything Essex throw at them very comfortably.
