Charlie Dean brings herself on from the other end, the captain's off breaks conceding just the one single.

  2. NZ 52-3published at 10 overs

    Target: 184 (DLS)

New Zealand can't get Sophie Ecclestone away, she concedes just four to send the visitors even further behind the asking rate.

Lauren Bell is setting the tone for this England side. Everything she does, she does with 100 percent skill and commitment. That fielding off her bowling sums her up as a player.

  4. NZ 49-3published at 9 overs

    Target: 184 (DLS)

Maddy Green climbs into a short one from Lauren Bell, pulling fiercely to the midwicket boundary before running a quick single to pinch the strike.

  5. ouch!

    NZ 43-3published at 8.1 overs

Lauren Bell is hurt - Maddy Green drives the ball back at the bowler, and it hits her on the thumb of her left hand.

She hits the deck clearly in pain, but after some treatment she's OK to carry on.

  6. NZ 43-3published at 7.4 overs

    Target: 184 (DLS)

Sophie Ecclestone is on with her left-arm spin for the first over after the Powerplay. Three bowlers can send down seven overs maximum, and two can bowl six in this 33-over innings.

The rain has gone too - happy days for England.

Lauren Bell's bowling well here. You've got to be bowling in the right areas to ask the question so you can't take that away from her.

  8. NZ 40-3published at 6.3 overs

    Target: 184 (DLS)

It was umpire's call once again, so a review would not have made a difference.

England are on top as the left-handed Brooke Halliday joins Maddy Green.

    Plimmer lbw b Bell 7 (NZ 40-3)

Lauren Bell does it again - all lbws and this looked close, and Georgia Plimmer opts not to review.

It was full and swinging, and looked to be on leg stump but it was another fine piece of bowling from the right-arm quick.

Suzie Bates finishes her 20-year long ODI career as the fourth highest run scorer in this format with 5,982 runs.

Just another 11 runs today would have seen Bates finish third, but nevertheless, a truly well-deserved ovation as she walks off the pitch for the final time in the New Zealand one-day kit.

    2. Stefanie Taylor (6134)

  12. NZ 40-2published at 6 overs

    Target: 184 (DLS)

Maddy Green breaks the shackles with a nice hook to long leg for four, then cuts for two more. A wide eludes a diving Amy Jones and goes to the rope for five more to the total. Another wide sees Lauren Filer go for 12 from her third over.

Sadly, though, I have to report that it's raining again.

  13. NZ 28-2published at 5.3 overs

That's two of New Zealand's key players back in the hutch, and Lauren Filer is making the ball talk - tough times to be a batter.

But don't forget that the maximum anyone can bowl is seven overs, so how long do England stick with their opening bowlers?

Charlie Dean's given it a great sprawling effort. Hard to your left, not your dominant hand but she certainly threw everything at it.

  15. NZ 28-2published at 5 overs

    Target: 184 (DLS)

Maddy Green is next in, and she's close to having her stay ended very early, edging the ball just wide of Charlie Dean at gully.

  16. wicket

    A Kerr lbw b Bell 1 (NZ 27-2)

    Bell strikes again!

The tall quick rips one back into Melie Kerr's pads, the Kiwi skipper is trapped back on the crease and again, like Suzie Bates, opts not to review.

The replay shows again that it was Umpire's Call, hitting high on leg stump.

New Zealand may have lost the great Suzie Bates early but the White Ferns remain favourites to win and level the series.

  18. NZ 27-1published at 4 overs

    Target: 184

That was good work by Lauren Bell, recovering from a wayward start to get rid of the great opener.

Melie Kerr joins Georgia Plimmer and gets off the mark, before Plimmer takes advantage of a swinging legside delivery from Lauren Filer to clip the final delivery of the over down to the rope at fine leg.

A fantastic career comes to an end here. I don't think there's anyone more deserving of a warm round of applause than Suzie Bates, making that walk back to the dressing room for the last time in ODI cricket.

  20. wicket

    Bates lbw b Bell 12 (NZ 21-1)

But next ball Lauren Bell traps the opener to bring a great ODI career to an end!

Suzie Bates played around it and after a quick chat with Plimmer about a review, she strode off. Replays showed it was just clipping leg.

Either way, Suzie Bates is gone for the last time in a 50-over game.
