    Yorks 71-4 v Hants 251

Adam Lyth has been the glue of this rather wobbly Yorks response.

And the opener is starting to stretch his shoulders a little with a couple of lovely shots to dispatch Sonny Baker to the cover rope.

Lyth has moved to 36 with Matt Revis on 12 at the other end.

    Surrey 489-7 v Leics

    A quick 50 for Jordan Clark - the 24th first-class half-century of his career.

He takes a quick single off Ben Green and gets there in just 48 balls.

    Notts 279 v Glamorgan 91-8

Glamorgan have lost their past four wickets for three runs.

The visitors still need another 38 to avoid the follow-on.

Not sure anyone would have seen this coming - even the most ardent Notts fan.

Postpublished at 11:45 BST 11 April

    Essex 149 v Somerset 204-5

Lewis Goldsworthy looks in a lot of pain as he tries to pull Sam Cook.

He hobbles around the crease, but fair play to him managing to get to 41* now on a tricky pitch in a low scoring game, with this injury clearly affecting him greatly for the first 44 minutes this morning.

He was stretching his hamstring after play last night, but was not visibly struggling running between the wickets with Craig Overton yesterday.

    McKinney c Williams b Miles 244 (Glos v Durham 520-3)

Craig Miles has taken a bit of a pounding in his 10 overs, but a moment of light relief for him.

Ben McKinney goes for another big hit into the legside but gets it higher than he would have liked and Will Williams takes a fine catch in the deep.

McKinney goes for a career-best 244 off 272 balls, with 36 fours and six sixes.

A fantastic knock for the 21-year-old. What will the England hierarchy make of it?

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:43 BST 11 April

    Cooke c Haynes b Hutton 3 (Notts 279 v Glamorgan 90-8)

    It's a collapse.

Brett Hutton has come into the attack for Notts and struck with just his second ball of the morning.

Chris Cooke tries to guide one behind square on the off-side but instead edges it to Jack Haynes at third slip who makes the grab.

From 81-4 at the start of the day, Glamorgan have lost four wickets for nine runs to slump to 90-8.

    Glos v Durham 513-2

    Dispatched!

Ben McKinney launches Matt Taylor over the onside for six and that brings up the double century stand between him and David Bedingham.

McKinney is on 237 and the pair have added 57 quick runs already this morning.

  8. Postpublished at 11:42 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 v Glamorgan 90-7

Into the nervous nineties... but that's the whole team, not just one batter for Glamorgan.

After such a fine start yesterday in which they reduced Notts to 103-6, this will be a real disappointment for the Welsh side.

Can Chris Cooke and Timm van der Gugten salvage something a la Jack Haynes?

    Surrey 475-7 v Leics

OMG - a few moments ago, Surrey's score was the magical 456-7!

    Allan, Bushey

Good spot, Allan. It was indeed a perfect sequence only for a very brief moment. Surrey are piling on the runs this morning.

  10. 200 for Somersetpublished at 11:39 BST 11 April

    Essex 149 v Somerset 200-5

Simon Harmer is sporting his snood and the TKC oven-glove-looking big hand warmer pouch, it did not help the latter with that digit injury, but it may help Essex's best spinner be able to twirl a little better than if his fingers were lacking bloodflow in the chilly April breeze.

Both umpires have gloves on too.

A slightly early straight drive from Lewis Goldsworthy gives a tough catching chance to Sam Cook in his follow through, he gets a finger on it but it still has enough pace to go to the sightscreen for four.

Shane Snater on now as first change this morning.

    51 the lead now.

    Clark c Barnard b Bamber 0 (Sussex 58-2 v Warwickshire 263)

Wow, out of nowhere, two in an over again, this seems to be a common occurence early in this new campaign.

Top edge caught at mid-off as Tom Clark tries to work one through the leg side off Ethan Bamber, probably too early in his innings and the season to be playing across the line having not yet even got off the mark.

  12. Postpublished at 11:37 BST 11 April

    Surrey 470-7 v Leics

Jordan Clark smashes another lovely drive straight down the ground for four off Josh Hull.

Surrey have rattled along at six-an-over this morning and they've really got their foot on the gas.

Could be racking up a mammoth, almost insurmountable score here.

Leicestershire may already be making plans for trying to grind out a draw.

  13. 100 runs

100 for David Bedinghampublished at 11:36 BST 11 April

    Glos v Durham 507-2

Some players make batting look easy and David Bedingham is one of those - a classic stroke player at number four.

The leading run scorer in Division One in 2024 with 1331 runs and six tons, the South Africa batter struggled last year, but he has cruised to three figures here.

The shot that gets him there is an absolute Christmas present as Craig Miles spears down a legside half-volley missing everything and Bedingham helps himself to four.

It's a 13th four to go with one six off 126 balls - a 17th Durham century for Bedingham.

  14. Under way at Headingleypublished at 11:36 BST 11 April

    Yorks 49-4 v Hants 251

After a slight delay for rain we are under way in Leeds.

Sonny Baker was on fire last night taking three in an over but his first over is a less explosive affair costing a single.

Kyle Abbott, who bowled very well last night to build the pressure on Yorks, is on at the other end.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:35 BST 11 April

    Haines b Bamber 32 (Sussex 58-1 v Warwickshire 263)

I am so sorry Sussex fans...ignore my previous post I guess...

53 minutes Tom Haines spent at the crease, striking five boundaries across yesterday and today.

Ethan Bamber with 1-20 off 6.2 overs as he gets one through between the left-hander's bat and pad.

  16. 6 runs

Six for Clarkpublished at 11:35 BST 11 April

    Surrey 464-7 v Leics

Leicestershire are probably just begging for this innings to end already.

Jordan Clark swivels onto a short one from Josh Hull and smashes it into the stands at The Oval for six more, before adding an easy two into the off-side.

    Hull is looking weary.

  17. Postpublished at 11:33 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 v Glamorgan 87-7

Another tight over from Fergus O'Neill comes to an end and he's taken 4-13 from his 10 overs. Excellent bowling display by the Notts man so far.

  18. 50 runs

50 up for Sussex openerspublished at 11:33 BST 11 April

    Sussex 52-0 v Warwickshire 267

Last night after play, Warwickshire's second top scorer Kai Smith told the Media:

“We had to battle really hard to get some runs on the board. The spin was probably a bit easier to play today so we had to recognise the key moments and get on top and get as many runs as we could.

“The seamers held their lines and lengths really well. The odd one bounced a bit extra. It nibbled off the pitch a bit early on. But it did come on quite nicely. But the odd one an over would take off and hit you on the gloves or nip back in.”

There has been little sign of the nibble or hitting the gloves this morning, despite the overcast conditions. It does not seem that Dan Hughes or Tom Haines look at all worried, finding gaps in the field at will.

  19. Postpublished at 11:32 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 v Glamorgan 87-7

Notts think they've got a fourth wicket of the morning as Fergus O'Neill hunts down a five-for.

Big appeals for a nick off Timm van der Gugten's outside edge but the umpire says no bat involved.

Glamorgan are really, really up against it here.

  20. Bad light stops play at Canterburypublished at 11:30 BST 11 April

    Kent v Northants 437-1

    I know, at 11.30am?!

The umpires take a reading and the players are meandering off. Relief for the bowlers and fielders it has to be said.

Unbeaten centurions Calvin Harrison and Luke Procter were the last ones to come off the pitch.
