  1. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:02 BST 11 April

    Essex 149 v Somerset 264-6

A brilliant effort from the hamstrung Lewis Goldsworthy to put on 98 with Craig Overton, Tom Lammonby running for him this morning.

Will Smeed had the fortune of an easy Dean Elgar first slip catch being shelled before he had scored a single run in first-class cricket, but he eventually got going to now be 17* off 46 balls.

But Craig Overton is the top story of the day so far, lunching on 98* off 132 balls.

The day after his birthday could see further celebrations for him soon.

  2. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:01 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 25-2 v Glamorgan 113

Nottinghamshire are two down in their second innings but this has very much been their session.

The defending champions rattled through Glamorgan this morning, taking six wickets to reduce the visitors from 81-4 to 113 all out.

Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett have been dismissed early but Notts lead by 191 runs with eight wickets still in the hut.

  3. 150 runs

150 for Luke Procter and Calvin Harrisonpublished at 13:00 BST 11 April

    Kent v Northants 469-1

The Northants batting continues to eat up the runs and both Luke Procter and Calvin Harrison have passed the personal milestone of 150.

Harrison has 153, one more than Procter.

  4. Postpublished at 12:59 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 25-2 v Glamorgan 113

Zain ul Hassan is on for Glamorgan and his first ball is pushed away to the rope for four by Joe Clarke.

    Bancroft lbw b Roach 0 (Glos 3-1 v Durham 605-5 dec)

    Penny for Cameron Bancroft's thoughts!

The Gloucestershire captain asked Durham to bat yesterday and watched them pummel his bowlers for four sessions.

Now it's his turn to make hay with the bat and he offers no shot to his second delivery from Kemar Roach, which veers in from outside off to crash into his pads.

Up goes the finger and it's a two-ball duck.

  6. Postpublished at 12:57 BST 11 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 27-0

An optimistic appeal by Surrey as Matt Fisher gets one to loop in and strike the pads of Jake Weatherald but the umpire decides it's going down the leg-side.

Weatherald cashes in from the very next ball, smashing a wide one from Fisher through the covers for four.

  7. Postpublished at 12:57 BST 11 April

    Lancs 351 v Derbys 60-1

How costly is that drop by Marcus Harris going to be?

Harry Came could have been sent on his way for 16 but the spill from the first innings centurion has given him a life he is living to the full.

Paul Coughlin has just been pounded through point area for four as the Derbys man moves to 35.

  8. DURHAM DECLAREpublished at 12:54 BST 11 April

    Glos v Durham 605-5 dec

Durham captain Alex Lees calls his batters in just after they pass the 600-barrier.

They added another 149 runs this morning with 244 for Ben McKinney and 118 for David Bedingham.

Gloucestershire have a long way to go to get anything out of this match.

  9. 6 runs

First batting point for Somersetpublished at 12:54 BST 11 April

    Essex 149 v Somerset 258-6

A brilliant recovery this from Somerset and a seriously good effort to get a batting bonus point on a pitch that has done plenty throughout.

Will Smeed clears the ropes for the first time against a Championship Dukes ball, straight off Simon Harmer, then hits Matt Critchley for four next over through the covers.

He looks less nervous and more at ease now.

  10. Postpublished at 12:53 BST 11 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 23-0

Rishi Patel picks up his first boundary of the match and a fine one it is too.

It's slightly over-pitched outside off by Sean Abbott and Patel times it to perfection to ease it through extra cover for four.

  11. Postpublished at 12:51 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 13-2 v Glamorgan 113

Joe Clarke with a lovely shot off Ryan Hadley, flicking a full delivery through the legside for four.

    Notts 279 & 9-2 v Glamorgan 113

This was a poor decision by Hameed, wickets tumbling, pitch doing loads, less than 2 hours of play so far today, had to enforce the follow on.

    Tom, Nottingham

Notts chose to bat again, instead of making Glamorgan follow-on, having taken six wickets to bowl them out for 113 from 81-4 at the start of play today.

  13. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:47 BST 11 April

    Essex 149 v Somerset 244-6

Another shimmy down and deposited six over the sight screen from Craig Overton off Simon Harmer, he has made a habit of this shot in recent seasons off this bowler.

Harmer bowled very well for South Africa in India in the winter but is struggling in English April now.

Overton got out on 99 a few years ago at Taunton, but has reached 100 since, he is now 90*, Smeed still five not out off 30 balls, but crucially still there.

Matt Critchley will have a first bowl of the match now after his career-best last week.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 BST 11 April

    Leaning c Hain b Thompson 14 (Sussex 113-6 v Warwickshire 267)

    Some collapse this from Sussex.

Jack Leaning gets squared up into a poor position and a comfortable enough catch for Sam Hain in the slips for Jordan Thompson to take the wicket.

Opening bowler, but genuine all-rounder Fynn Hudson-Prentice is in to try and dig them out of a hole, though Jack Carson scored a century last season and Ollie Robinson is a pretty useful number 10 so Sussex bat seriously deep!

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:42 BST 11 April

    Duckett run out (Dickson) 1 (Notts 279 & 8-2 v Glamorgan 113)

What on earth have Nottinghamshire done here?

It's an absolute calamity between Ben Slater and Ben Duckett. Slater nudges it into the leg-side and there is major hesitation between the wickets.

Duckett is almost next to Slater when he's sent back. Sean Dickson, brought into the side to replace the injured Ben Kellaway, races in from deep, scoops it up and rifles a perfect throw at the stumps.

England international Duckett is a long way short and has to trudge off for just one.

  16. Postpublished at 12:42 BST 11 April

    Yorks 109-4 v Hants 251

Matt Revis is very strong off the back foot just outside off-stump with all but one of his seven fours coming on that side of the wicket.

Hants have been a little slow to pick up on that fact this morning unless, of course, they have picked up that fact and believe they are going to get a nick.

Revis is winning that argument at the moment and has moved to 32.

  17. Postpublished at 12:42 BST 11 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 14-0

A boundary for Leicestershire but it'll go down as leg byes as it flicks off Jake Weatherald's thigh pad from Sean Abbott and races away for four down to fine leg.

Then the first boundary off the bat as Weatherald crashes through the covers for four.

  18. Postpublished at 12:40 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 7-1 v Glamorgan 113

Ben Duckett is off the mark for Notts, nudging into the off-side for a single from Ryan Hadley.

  19. Essex turn to spin at Chelmsfordpublished at 12:40 BST 11 April

    Essex 149 v Somerset 238-6

Simon Harmer is hit for four the first ball he bowls today.

Craig Overton took a liking to him last year at Taunton and again yesterday.

The winter of 2024/25 in the Gqherba nets probably helped him get used to Harmer's off-spin albeit with a different coloured ball.

Harmer still bowling with sunglasses and a snood on by the way!

  20. Postpublished at 12:38 BST 11 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 5-0

Slow and steady start for Leicestershire.

No balls has top scored with four so far as Rishi Patel gets off the mark with a single behind square on the off-side.
