Summary

Your views on England's tour of Sri Lanka

  1. Eng 11-0published at 3 overs

A leg-bye and two singles complete the scoring from an Asitha Fernando over that ends with another slower ball.

Rehan Ahmed had to get his skates on to get through for the leg bye and, thankfully for England he did, as there was a direct hit from short fine leg.

  2. Eng 8-0published at 2 overs

That's got an Aquaman/Poseidon kind of vibe, if you ask me, Martin!

Anyway, back on dry land, and Janith Liyanage opens up from the other end. England take four from it but signs that things won't be straightforward for the batters again as an off-cutter grips and beats Ben Duckett on the outside edge.

The next one holds slightly in the surface and a leading edge slides into the covers.

You'd need a big mantelpiece for that (08:55). It would go nicely next to cycling's Tirreno Adriatico trident.

Variety is what you need surely; Harry Brook may not want spin and bigger totals but I’ve really enjoyed the first two matches.

  5. Eng 4-0published at 1 over

That boundary is the only scoring shot from the first over, a steady start all round.

  6. Eng 4-0published at 0.4 overs

England are made to wait to get off the mark after a superb stop from Wanindu Hasaranga at backward point to prevent a square drive from Rehan Ahmed getting through.

No stopping that, though, a picture perfect cover drive from Rehan beats the in-field and races away to the fence.

Here we go then, the players are out in the middle and they're ready to go - on the same pitch used for the first game, so batting first definitely a good call from Harry Brook.

Asitha Fernando will open the bowling for Sri Lanka, Rehan Ahmed is on strike for England...

Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka: "It's a part of the game and we just want to chase it now.

"I accept that we were slightly below par with the bat and the ball too [in the last game]. It's in the past right now and we want to move on and start fresh and do the basics right again."

England captain Harry Brook: "I don't think it's going to be a nice pitch so we'll have to adapt to conditions and get ourselves to a defendable score.

"We want to see the spinners to attack the stumps and batters to adapt to conditions.

"It's not easy out there with the bat, it's not easy to push it into gaps but you've got to use your skills to manoeuvre the field.

"We don't know what a good score is yet, we'll have to assess after a few overs."

Love this - finally Harry Brook gets to bat first but how do you set a target in these conditions? No choice, in truth, but they did such a good job Saturday I wonder if he did think about putting them in.

  13. England win the toss and batpublished at 08:48 GMT 27 January

Harry Brook calls correctly at the toss and with spin expected to be crucial again, it's no surprise that he opts to bat first.

Having chased in the first two games, let's see how England getting on setting a total here.

The tourists are unchanged so Rehan Ahmed gets another chance at the top of the order, while Sri Lanka bring back leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who was rested for the first two matches.

Who's ready for a decider then?

After England levelled the series on "probably the worst" pitch Harry Brook has ever played on, this ODI series is going down to the wire.

They're in sunny Colombo again - must be nice, it's miserable here in Salford - for a winner-takes-all third one-dayer...
