  1. Close of play at Southportpublished at 14:42 BST 16 May

    Lancs 28-0 v Worcs 270

    Well, that didn't take long.

Rain continues to fall in Southport and we will not see a single ball bowled on the coast today.

We'll try again on day three tomorrow with Lancashire still trailing by 242 runs with all 10 first-innings wickets still in hand.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:39 BST 16 May

    Davies c Dickson b ul-Hassan 30 (Warwickshire 58-2 v Glamorgan 360)

Another scalp for Glamorgan and for ul-Hassan, who has been sent into the stands on a couple of occasions by Alex Davies but who now claims his wicket.

Davies had moved onto 30 with a couple of maximums and having run ul-Hassan down to third for another boundary thereafter, but he helps this delivery into the hands of Sean Dickson at gully.

His reaction suggests that is a soft dismissal.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:39 BST 16 May

    Gay b Milnes 0 (Kent 523 v Durham 6-1)

Cricket can be so very cruel at times, can't it?

Eager to do well in his first innings since being picked by England, Emilio Gay plays on to Matt Milnes and is gone for a six-ball duck.

His middle stump is flat on the ground and Gay casts a rueful look at the pitch before starting the long walk.

  4. Latest from Southportpublished at 14:37 BST 16 May

    Lancs 28-0 v Worcs 270

A little update to tell you about in Lancashire's match against Worcestershire:

"The rain continues to fall at Southport so chances of any play today are starting to recede.

"The umpires are going to make an inspection shortly."

  5. Postpublished at 14:36 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 4-0

All eyes on Emilio Gay at Beckenham, who is opening the batting in the absence of Ben McKinney as he will do for England against new Zealand next month.

Alex Lees is on striker for the first over, though and steers a ball from James Taylor to backward point for four.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:31 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 277-5

Up in the air - and its just safe for Ben Aitchison, who moves onto 80, but having run two Wayne Madsen dives to make his ground and falls a little awkwardly.

Madsen is looking to shake this one off - he should be good to continue.

Moments later, Aitchison spanks one to Caleb Falconer off the bowling of Zafar Gohar and Falconer should really cling on but it spins out of his fingers. That one wasn't a tough catch in truth but it goes down.

    Derbyshire's lead is now 100.

  7. Postpublished at 14:29 BST 16 May

    Notts 43-1 v Hampshire 214

Having come through that period before lunch when Hampshire's attack really applied some pressure, Notts' batters seem to have a feel for the conditions now and scoring has just become a tad easier.

Ben Slater (30*) is set and Freddie McCann has so far played a watchful innings of 10*.

A bowling change has seen debutant Delano Potgieter thrown the ball.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:26 BST 16 May

    Critchley c and b Mike 4 (Essex 143-6 v Leics 333)

Bonus wicket for Leicestershire as Matt Critchley, who has been in such fine form with the bat this season, drills a return catch back to paceman Ben Mike.

Suddenly, Essex are tottering a bit as Wiaan Mulder comes to the middle to join Charlie Allison.

  9. Postpublished at 14:24 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 273-5

The search party has been able to retrieve the ball and Wayne Madsen is immediately back into the groove, driving down the ground to long on for four to move into the seventies.

  10. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:22 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 34-1 v Glamorgan 360

That is one way to relieve the pressure.

Alex Davies was sitting on 10 from 48 deliveries, but he would have enjoyed receiving that leg-stump half-volley from Zain-ul-Hassan and duly sends it into the Eric Hollies stand.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:20 BST 16 May

    Porter b Mike 52 (Essex 135-5 v Leics 333)

Jamie Porter's gallant vigil comes to an end as Ben Mike produces a delivery which is just a bit too quick for the Essex nightwatchman.

He put on 96 with Charlie Allison, who has now been joined by Matt Critchley with Essex still 198 in arrears.

Porter was at the crease for just short of three hours, faced 117 balls and hit seven fours in his best first-class score.

  12. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:20 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 268-5

Derbyshire's Wayne Madsen goes aerial and slog sweeps towards the Tavern Stand all the way for six. What a feeling to hit a maximum at Lord's.

There is a delay in play as we have lost the ball - wouldn't have thought that would be possible at Lord's but there you go.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:19 BST 16 May

    Parkinson c Bedingham b Potts 0 (Kent 523 v Durham)

Kent's innings comes to an end at Beckenham as Matt Parkinson edges a comfortable catch to first slip.

Matthew Potts finishes with figures of 6-92 from 28.5 overs, well supported by Ben Raine's 3-87.

  14. Women's One-Day Cup updatepublished at 14:18 BST 16 May

Warwickshire have lost an early wicket at Scarborough, chasing 239 to beat Yorkshire, for whom Jess Jonassen made 110 off 102 balls.

Lancashire totalled 246-9 in their 50 overs against Surrey - Maitlan Brown and Dani Gregory taking three wickets each.

Durham have piled up a best-of-the-day 292-8 against Somerset at the Riverside with 50+ scores by Hollie Armitage, Mia Rogers and Bess Heath, whose 51 took just 34 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 14:17 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 261-5

It's getting a little grey and overcast over Lord's now - let's hope those rain clouds stay away this afternoon.

Derbyshire fans will be hoping so anyway as Wayne Madsen (58*) and Ben Aitchison (76*) look comfortably set at the crease.

    Their lead is now 84.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:14 BST 16 May

    Yates LBW b ul-Hassan 10 (Warwickshire 27-1 v Glamorgan 360)

    Glamorgan make an early breakthrough!

Timm van der Gugten's controlled, tight spell at the other end brings reward for team-mate Zain-ul-Hassan at the other as he is adjudged to have trapped Rob Yates in front.

The left-handed opener departs with the raising of the finger and England Lions captain Dan Mousley joins Alex Davies (9*) out in the middle.

  17. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:13 BST 16 May

    Kent 519-9 v Durham

Ekansh Singh is down the track to Callum Parkinson's left-arm spins and lofts it away for six over long-on.

You sense Matt Parkinson - Callum's twin - is itching for him to take a single so he can get to the other end.

The umpires, meanwhile, are bothered about the light.

  18. Postpublished at 14:11 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 27-0 v Glamorgan 360

Timm van der Gugten is making sure that Warwickshire's opening pair are having to work really hard for their runs.

His first six overs have included 32 dots, four maidens and only eight runs leaked.

That said, Rob Yates at the other end relieves a little pressure as he beautifully cuts Zain-ul-Hassan for four.

  19. 50 runs

for Jamie Porterpublished at 14:10 BST 16 May

    Essex 129-4 v Leics 333

    Jamie PorterImage source, Shutterstock

That may have given him as much pleasure as the 586 first-class wickets he has taken.

After suffering a blow on the fingers and then ducking a bouncer, Jamie Porter drives a Ben Mike no-ball into the covers and reached a maiden 50 off 106 balls in his 178th first-class innings.

What an effort this has been from the Essex nightwatchman.

  20. 300 wickets for Pottspublished at 14:07 BST 16 May

    Kent 512-9 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Matty Potts has bagged himself a five-for at Beckenham and in the process has moved to 300 first-class wickets.

James Taylor has just fallen for 10, pulling the bowler to David Bedingham at mid-wicket.

The sky is dark over Beckenham and heavy rain is forecast this afternoon, but so far we have not had any interruptions.
